Texture with letters and numbers for signs

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a custom texture which simply has all the Doom letters and numbers on a black background. Before I try and re-invent the wheel, I'd like to see if someone has done that already. Ideally letters which are both 16 pixel and 8 pixels high. Once I have a custom texture like that, it will be simple to make signs.

If there isn't any known texture like that, I'll have to make my own. I have exported PNG's of the 8-px high letters used for chat messages, and the 16-px high textures used for the menu graphics, which should cover the whole alphabet.

They're all in red though, and ideally I would like the possibility of other colors, specifically white. I've seen people post different colored variants of detailed textures in the "Post your textures" thread. Is there a simple way to re-palette the color of those PNG files to different colors, using something like GIMP?

I might have more related questions later.

Probably. Also SLADE has a "color remap" function that would let you replace one array of colors with another. Very convenient for bulk recolors.

I don't know if there's a set of textures for letters, unfortunately.

Thanks, Dexiaz. I can probably make use of those to create a texture. It won't have specific signs on it, just the letters and numbers, and I'll use lots of small linedefs and specific offsets to put the individual letters together.
