meeshu Posted April 10, 2022 (edited) Trying to run the mod Gamma Labs 1 for Doom 3. Mod available form several sites, one is - here . Install instructions are to copy the gammalbs.pk4 to Doom 3 base sub-directory. Then run Doom 3 and bring up console and type in map gammalbs to start the mod. Tried several times to run this mod, but on each occasion the mod does start and starts to load the splash screen. But after a couple of seconds the mod seems to stop loading and then I'm back to the main Doom 3 screen. The mod doesn't appear to work properly. I'm running the 2004 retail version of Doom 3 under Windows XP SP3. Why doesn't the mod work properly? Edited April 10, 2022 by meeshu 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
GuyMcBrofist Posted April 11, 2022 Do you have anything else installed into the base folder? I followed the instructions and was able to play it with no problem. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
meeshu Posted April 11, 2022 Apart from the gammalbs.pk4 file, I believe all the other files are standard for the base directory(?) Here is a screenshot of the base directory contents - Note that pak000.pk4 file has been slightly modified by myself to improve weapon capabilities. But standard Doom 3 runs fine with these modifications. Also there is another mod located within it's own directory which also runs fine! Maybe this gamma labs mod is only compatible with Steam version of Doom 3, and not compatible with the 2004 retail version of Doom 3 which is what I have? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
GuyMcBrofist Posted April 11, 2022 Are you patched to 1.3.1? I think you should have paks 005-008 in there as well. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
meeshu Posted April 11, 2022 (edited) No. I understood that this patch was primarily to allow later operating systems to run Doom 3, and not anything else? EDIT: Installed patch 1.3 and the gamma labs mod now works! Thanks for the help! Edited April 11, 2022 by meeshu 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
