Stretching images in GZDoom

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to change the aspect ratio of images within GZDoom without stretching the entire game? For example, if I use the "Force Aspect Ratio" option and change it from 16:9 to 4:3 within GZDoom's video settings, it stretches the entire game (as intended). But it also changes the aspect ratio of images (like TITLEPIC, INTERPIC, etc), which is what I want, excluding stretching the rest of the game.

If this isn't something you can change, I'm probably the only person who would love a feature like this to be implemented, mostly so that every time I play an obscure wad without supported 16:9 assets, I won't ever have to see those ugly black bars during intermissions and such and still be able to play the wad in 16:9 glory.

EDIT: After exploring some of PrBoom+'s settings, I've found that within the "Status Bar and Menu Appearance" setting, there's an option called, "Fit to Width". Is there any equivalent option or feature on GZDoom? Because this is essentially what I was talking about above.

Stretch? Do you really need that? These are just pictures that you won't spend too much time looking at, do you also play 2D retro games in that "16:9 glory"?

GZDoom will always present fullscreen images in their intended aspect ratio. And no, this won't be changed because the vast majority of users does not want this.

Text on stretched images looks ugly AF and often becomes illegible. There are things that just don't have to be done at all costs. Not worth it.
