reefer Posted April 15, 2022 (edited) Sometimes when I make a new sector instead of that sector being it's own sector, its like the inside of the sector around it. It's hard to explain, but I'll use this analogy: Its like the hole in a donut. I created the outside of the donut, and the space around the outside is like the void. But when I go to create a sector in the donut (like I try to put a sprinkle on the donut), the editor makes it like I'm trying to make the hole in a donut- vertices to separate void from the rest of the donut This is extremely annoying because I can't edit the sectors when they are like this If anyone know how I could stop this behavior (if theres a sector tag or smth, a technique I could use, if its something with my editor, etc) please help me Its fine if people can't, because I know this is really hard to explain Heres a picture, might help (the bar in the middle of the screen is the sector I'm trying to create. It's inside a huge octagon) I can't select or edit that bar because it contains the void, and I don't want it to Edited April 15, 2022 by PrismaticFrog 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Stabbey Posted April 15, 2022 I assume you're using Ultimate Doom Builder, yes? I don't know why it's creating new sectors as the void - perhaps its a setting thing - but you should be able to turn that void into a sector using the "Make Sectors" mode. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
reefer Posted April 15, 2022 Thanks for the reply! But, I'm using Eureka 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
magicsofa Posted April 15, 2022 I can't find anything in the documentation for Eureka that looks like a "draw sectors as void" option. Maybe you just pressed "delete" by accident? Try re-drawing over the existing lines. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
kwc Posted April 15, 2022 When you draw a sector, is it in a clockwise or counter-clockwise fashion? Maybe it has something to do with where the front/back sidedefs are? For instance, the example you show the front sidedefs are facing out and its causing the inside to be void, correct? If you draw the sector clockwise so that the front sidedefs face inside the sector, does Eureka interpret the sector differently? 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

Does that turn it into a sector? 57 minutes ago, kwc said: If you draw the sector clockwise so that the front sidedefs face inside the sector, does Eureka interpret the sector differently? FWIW what you say is what I observe: drawing clockwise with the front sides facing inwards makes a new sector while anticlockwise with front sides facing outwards creates a void. Then I can press space with the pointer inside it to turn the void into a sector. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
