An00bus Posted May 8, 2022 12 hours ago, erzboesewicht said: Thanks for all contributions, it's becoming a nice list! I've had only time to try out some few but there are some awesome concepts to be found. I'll not be too strict including wads, as long as there is some very distinctive concept it can be listed, so Strife was included, although it for sure is a "borderline" case. Another borderline case is Barbie Girl which looks quite doom-y as it uses mostly vanilla assets but is similar in concept to A Boy and its Barrel so I included it. I'm personally really glad to see a list like this, ever since I found SRB2Kart I've been inspired to find (and make) mods that fall outside the standard FPS convention. I guess I should mention, I made another standalone mod called Lenny! for a jam. Not sure what it qualifies as, but Bully by Rockstar games would likely be the best comparison I agree with most and use myself. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
m8f Posted May 8, 2022 (edited) Even more! The Marked (prototype) by JP LeBreton: Quote In "The Marked" you play as a fallen Arch-Vile, cast out of Hell by a power struggle and stripped of your powers. You're completely without any direct attack capability, but as one of Hell's former generals you can manipulate and command its minions, gradually reclaiming its armies for yourself. Paradise Rebirth by gwHero: Quote Single player exploration/puzzle game (with no fighting so if you only like slaughtering demons this might not be the game for you but yes I do like killing monsters in Doom) Hellshots Golf by TerminusEst13: Quote As far removed from running and gunning and shooting demons as you can get. An experience you can get anywhere else, a mod like you have played before, approved by at least two out of fifteen users. Pretty self-explanatory, really. Put the ball in the hole. If you have any questions, please refer to How To Play or hit F1. Edited May 8, 2022 by m8f 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Chopkinsca Posted May 8, 2022 I need to keep this topic in mind for when I can actually play games on this damn laptop. And damnit my letters are slanted. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Lizardcommando Posted May 8, 2022 I don't know if this counts or not, but 11 years ago, I had made a tiny 1 level demo of a non-violent doom mod called Mr. Hoppington's Shape Search. There are no guns, no demons, no blood and guts. Just you and Mr. Hoppington and his assistant Andy the T-Rex, walking around Mr. Hoppington's house and yard picking up random shapes. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Andromeda Posted May 9, 2022 (edited) Arch-Vile Jump by termrork: Quote You ever used the vertical boost of an Arch-Vile-Attack? It doesn't matter if you are a speedrunner or a from time to time player. With some time getting into this, this will make fun for each kind of player. The aim of this wad is to complete the maps by especially using Arch-Vile-Jumps, which describes the vertical boost of an Arch-Vile-Attack, and Rocket-Jumps without getting killed. Geniraul Posted January 8, 2023 There's a unique mod by JSO_x for GZDoom which imitates the experience of Doodle Jump and goes by the name of Doomle Jump. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Crusader No Regret Posted January 11, 2023 Haven't seen Hocus Pocus Doom mentioned yet so I'll throw it out there. Takes place in a first person perspective but the main game mechanics are quite different and there's more emphasis on platforming. Hope you're up to precision jumping. Got a Cacoward but also came out the same year as Eviternity and Lost Civilization so that may be a factor in how it ended up in the shadows, relatively speaking. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
