StarSpun5000 Posted May 11, 2022 My personal top pick for most memorable midi I've heard in a doom map would have to go to Bjorn Lynne's "A Presence in the Air" used in lost civilization's Map04. This midi hit me right in the feels the first time I heard it and it is one of the few times that I've seriously teared up while playing a doom level. This song just feels like pure wonder and joy distilled down into a single 4 minute long midi file. This song is just so beautiful and I will never forget the first time I heard it. 9 Quote Share this post Link to post
jazzmaster9 Posted May 11, 2022 for me the first two MIDIs from Back to Saturn X E1 has got to be the most memorable opening tracks to a megawad. 11 Quote Share this post Link to post
kwc Posted May 11, 2022 (edited) I've gotta agree with jazzmaster9. Those first couple BTSX tracks - Entering and Phobophobe by esselfortium - have this huge emotional weight to them that it was hard not to have them imprinted in my mind. Prior to playing that wad, I don't think I would have ever expected Doom midis to ever express a sense of internal grief or loneliness, or to follow that up with such a hook-filled and confident-sounding track that still carries that odd sense of melancholy. I swear I'm not projecting. Additionally, The Incessant Flow of Time by stewboy, paired with the particular level in Ancient Aliens that it's on, gets me feeling a certain way about the state of videogames. It's a magical mix and that song really feels like it hammers the idea that you're on the brink of a huge journey. Any and all stewboy tracks have this distinct character about them that have, on multiple occasions, had me alt+tab out of a wad briefly to read the .txt or wiki and confirm that, indeed, it's a stewboy joint. Sneezy McGlassFace Posted May 11, 2022 D_RUNNIN, there is a reason everybody uses it. All of master levels, most of newbie mappers.. all because it's just that cool. Right? 13 Quote Share this post Link to post
Side-O-Fries Posted May 11, 2022 Ohhhh, good topic! For a single midi, it's gotta be The Mucus Flow theme by B.P.R.D. Also, I'd say the entire soundtrack for Hell Ground, which is from American McGee's Alice. 6 Quote Share this post Link to post
Silhouette 03 Posted May 11, 2022 I'd have to say Valiant Map 31's "Stars" by Stewboy. It fits the maps slaughter nature very well and has a very energetic yet wonderous atmosphere to it. It's one of those you-need-to-hear-it-to-believe-it kind of midis. 5 hours ago, Thelokk said: Hexasketch in JPCP map29. Hexasketch is probably my favourite track in JPCP, next to Map28's "day of mourning". I played JPCP a long time ago but those two midis stuck with me the most. 6 Quote Share this post Link to post

Codename_Delta Posted May 11, 2022 (edited) Nuts.wad The midi is forever stuck in my head after playing nuts the amount of times I have. And: Let's Kill At Will from TNT, Ripsnort and Hell both from icarus alien vanguard and Both by @JDoyle from Maps 3 and 21 respectively. And also In The Dark from Doom 2, mainly used in The Chasm. It just feels like a break from Doom 2's mehness, song not so much but the map yeah. And Sinister. And Run 'Em Gun 'Em Kill 'Em from the plutonia midi pack. xX_Lol6_Xx Posted May 11, 2022 Sunlust Map 02 and Map 06. That theme from the House of The Dead really kicks ass, and Map 06's music really gives the map a more futuristic ambient. These midis really help their respective maps to create a fun adventure :-) 3 Quote Share this post Link to post

Jizzwardo Posted May 11, 2022 mine is the midi that plays in Map 10 of Frog and Toad. Either that, or the one that plays in the intermission levels of Back to Saturn X E2 (Mystproj). 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
