Shucks, I'm conflicted here. On the one hand, this level looks great, and you clearly put a lot of time and effort into it. On the other hand, it's a mean ol' bugger which kicked my ass all the way up and down the street. I gather that the difficulty settings aren't fully implemented yet, so maybe it's not right to say that the level is 'too hard', but for my part I wasn't able to clear to the end of it, and that's with using saves. I made it as far as the room with the hell knights and the two cybies before I decided I'd been beaten, and I put in 2 hours of retries to get to that point. For the density of enemies that come at you, there were some places where I felt that health was lacking, like that slime room with the bazillion green imps who teleport in (even a RAD suit would have been great so that I could move around a bit more). I won't try to imply like I know how UV should be balanced, but that was just my impression. In closing, this map has got some cool things going in how the encounters themselves are designed, but man was I trounced by it. I'd love to see a version where HMP isn't quite so painful.

Hey, thanks for playing!

I can certainly see where you're coming from regarding difficulty. That's not my strong suit, not really sure how to best do balance things.

However, thanks for the suggestions. If time permits, I think I can squeeze in the some changes that should improve the experience as far as difficulty is concerned.

@Doomkid Hey, just a question: it's 1:50 PM for me as of writing this and I'm on my lunch break. If I were to submit a new fixed-up version of my map around the evening my time, would that be acceptable? Not sure if I have any time left.

Thought of a few ways to improve the experience and some tweaks that's in line with @Blexor's comments. I think Blexor is right on the money and I believe other players will probably feel the same.

I wonder if it's okay to submit a level right now. But I'll leave my submission, since it's better than posting nothing.

@NeilJohnRips - Reading The Demonic Scriptures v1.0.wad

Uh oh. I'm following mtpain27 :O XD

Awesome. Should be interesting (presume no way in vanilla to have more than 32 maps. 2 separate wads?)

I switched to Linux a while ago and can't figure out how to install Ultimate Doom Builder in here.

You might be in luck. Just had a quick go with Wine 7.0 using the Windows executable and it looks promising. Only had a quick blast but seems all smooth (using the compiled for linux version the 3D view seems to be cursed with it locking up).

I’ll be super lenient and leave 2 more hours on the clock as of this post - I have a busy day ahead so it’s no skin off my nose to do so, and I do want to make sure no one interested is left out.

Crunch time is officially in swing :)

Great map Buddy - all sorts of action - super fun - I got real suppressed at the beginning haha

Doomer's worst enemy is alarm clock, haha!  I'm really happy with the first room. Super simple setup but so rewarding. HMP and HNTR have the shotgunner already mysteriously dead, so the gun is free for grabs. I could've made some closets/teleporters in the first room to push player out sooner but this is fine too.

Thanks for the vid, glad you enjoyed it. May people have great time with this megawad(s). The resource pack is good fun on its own. What better way to celebrate the occasion?

Chicken wings all around!

Unfortunately, my level is nowhere finish, so I won't be entering a map... :(
Personal stuff (School, moving into a new house) and the fact that this would be my first map ever, and I'm still figuring out the ins and outs of Doombuilder means it probably won't be as high quality as I'd want for a project like Jamal Jones.

But I won't let that stop me. Still making my own mods projects that while not as awesome as Jamal Jones, will be more simple and less demanding for someone like me who's new to Doom modding.

I'll be sure to play Jamal Jones once it comes out though! Looking forward to the maps everyone else
submitted!

Pencils down, everyone! I’ll be downloading all the submissions as-is once I get back to my PC tonight :)

I have a pretty busy weekend ahead of me, but the first submission playing stream will be Tuesday the 8th, 7AM eastern Aussie time (so, the afternoon/evening of Monday the 7th for those in the US).

The recordings will be on my channel permenantly of course, so no need to stress if you’re not there as it premiers. I’ll be playing the maps in alphabetical order by author name, and each session will be between 1 and 2 hours, roughly.

Fantastic work, everyone!

Don’t worry big smoke. I have a feeling there’s a couple others who plan to submit and simply missed the deadline.

Even if you’ve missed the deadline, I’ll still be happy to include your map in the final product. Others will still be able to revise their maps further too within the next month, so there will still be a little work to do even after the streaming and judging sessions.

And early morning the previous day for us Europeans.  Which is great because it gives me something to watch during work hours :)  can't wait!

Here's a ZIP pack including the 1ManV6a wad / deh resource pack, and ALL submissions (not counting the small handful of late maps which may come in), including the 2 bonus maps by Origamyde and TVdinnermasterchef as well as my 2 little unassuming techbases.

DOWNLOAD: https://doomshack.org/uploads/1ManJury_Res_V6a_MAP_SUBMISSIONS.zip

(55 maps in total!)

This should make it really convenient for anyone who wants to check out all of the latest submissions/what I'll be judging.

I'll be doing a co-op playthrough of the wad tomorrow, the 3rd of March at 6PM UTC. Postponed by one week to the 10th of March, 6PM UTC. I'll stream it on my twitch account. Any other mappers of the project: send me a DM and I'll send you the password for the server.

Let's see how far into the wad we get ;)

Cool beans.

Will it be okay if I just DM you like an hour or two before the server gets up tomorrow?

Yes! But later than that I can't guarantee seeing a message of somebody that wants to join.

Cool idea, may reach out. My map’s got some completely untested co-op only monsters so should be interesting XD

Sounds cool. Will you be going through them alphabetically? There's some 'A's that were submitted recently that I haven't gotten a chance to try, and I'd probably want to do so blind like the rest.

No co-op monsters on my map, I'm afraid. Come to think of it, I'm not sure if I even put any other player starts besides the one. I might have to do another update.

Alright then.

I'll probably be DMing today instead so I don't accidentally miss out early.

I guess many mappers will not have considered co-op, which I of course completely understand. My guess is we will run into several softlocks, some known to their mappers, others not. In those cases we'll just have to idclip or skip to the next map. I'm not going to dictate what mappers should do with their maps to address any issues that might show up: that's not my call to make.

I hadn't yet considered the order of the maps: I wrote my 'gonna do some co-op stuff' post without having checked the actual zip file Doomkid uploaded. Ehm... I guess I'll have to add all the maps to a single wad file, so as to be playable via the TSPG website that I use to host co-op Doom. Mmm, that's a first for me. I'll give it a try and see if I can make it work. I'll see about moving the A's to the back, if I can get it all to work.

If anybody has experience with combining 55 wads into one file and could do this: please be my guest. I could also just postpone this playthrough to another time in a week or two, once one or two megawads have been constructed and it makes more sense progression-wise to give this a spin.

Really excited to play this mapset - looks like a lot of awesome people were able to contribute to this project!

@Peccatum Mihzamiz Just curious - will this be over Zandronum, ZDaemon or something else? Either way I'll see if I can make the stream if nothing else.

Well, I did add co-op starts to my map & made it possible for other players to re-enter closed in arenas at least, I think my map should be completeable in co-op tho I didn't do any specific testing in that regard to check.  Hopefully it all works out OK for that session!  ^_^
