Congratulations to the winners! And again a big thank you to @Doomkid and all the mappers! These maps were so much fun to play and I'm glad we have a new triple megawad of such magnitude for all of us to enjoy!

It might be bad form to make a remark like this.. but let me just say: not picking your map as one of the winners was one of the toughest Doom-based decisions I've ever had to make.... Seriously.

I'm sure you can imagine which map "won" the "highly coveted" 4th place position!.....

(In case it’s not obvious - in other words, I really loved your map)

Wow, what a great conclusion to the contest! Thanks to Doomkid for masterminding and extra-thanks to all of the many, many formidable competitors who made watching and waiting for the results such a cool celebration of oldschool mapping.

Bravo to the winners! Can't say I disagree with Doomkid's choices, nor his reasoning. UMRK was one of those ones that I pegged as a potential winner way back when I played it, so cool to see that I wasn't too far off the mark in my guessing. For one last time, I'll say that this was a great competition and I was glad I got a chance to be a part of it. And man, that congratulations image really is a treasure.

Big congratulations to the winners, Doomkid and all participants! The end result is wonderful; as said, there is not a bad map here. Good work everyone!

Congrats to the winners and MASSIVE respect to Doomkid for organizing this contest and playtesting everything, a truly monumental uptaking.

Cannot wait to blast this tonight, loved the previous entries in the series (or should I say, universe?)

This was a journey. From my laziness, to the bug fixes, to the spechit overflow during the video featuring my map, it felt like I was part of a very large family.

Thanks guys, and congrats to the winners.

Been kinda late to say this I feel, but uh congrats to the winners of the contest. I'm excited to see the full release after so many judging sessions. :)

It's been fun watching this thread grow in pages and just seeing all of it's progress, even if sometimes I just kinda dip and stop talking in here.

I myself appreciate all of the criticism and praise given to my submission, so even though I didn't win I got something good out of it! At least I now know that I can make good enough maps for people to at least sort of like them.

Trust me, your map was way, way above "I sort of like this" territory :)

Congratulations to the winners, and thanks to all involved!! Getting a new Doom project of this scope, quality, and spirit makes a winner out of anyone who ends up clicking the "download" button, if you ask me.

The only thing that still slightly bothers me is the shorter length of the third episode. In my opinion it might be worth hosting a quick speedmapping session as a victory lap - just lay down some slots to claim, set a deadline, and hit go. If this many levels came out of just 2 months, who's to say we couldn't make 10 more levels in, say, 2 or 3 weeks? It'd be damn cool to see some more "Evil Rudy Psychedelia Hell" maps either way. ;)

Honestly Cammy, the short 3rd episode has been rubbing whatever trace of OCD I have the wrong way as well. I was worried people would be like "UGH this thing is getting stretched out even longer?!" if I tried to fill out the 3rd episode properly, but if I get more than a handful of people saying "we should totally get those last 8 maps made", I'll be happy to oblige and extend the project.

After all, the winners are already announced and once they recieve their money the "contest" aspect will be done with, so maybe people won't mind the campaign itself getting an extension.

That's actually not a bad idea, however I think there should be no giant maps (maybe 1-2 max) to keep playtime of the episode in check, and you have to pick people for that to have exactly 8 maps and avoid "My map wasn't picked and I was left behind" situation.

I, myself, am down to make a speedmap this time, or even a secret one with a gimmick.

I've been trying to think of new and unique ways to say congratulations. This is quite a conundrum! I'm truly grateful to have been part of this project. The passion, dedication, and enthusiasm has reminded me to always approach life in the same way. Thank you, @Doomkid for organizing the contest, showcasing the maps, providing constructive feedback, and all your hard work. Watching your playthroughs always put a smile on my face, and I’m having a blast playing the maps myself. And, of course, congratulations to the winners and everyone who participated. I’m almost a little sad that the contest has come to an end. Personally, I wouldn't mind an extension of the 3rd episode. Well, until next time, take care everyone!

Making a map for this was a lot of fun and there were many amazing submissions. I'm very happy you enjoyed my map so much and I'm glad I managed to capture the spirit of 90's adventure maps. I'll try to get a final version of Warhevil, with various small fixes, done as soon as possible.

Is there a list of mapping credits anywhere? Currently on map 10 and interested to see who made what.

A speedmapping session sounds like a lot of fun, I'd definitely be in!
(Also because I didn't say it already, congrats to the winners and thanks to Doomkid for making this project happen!)

Thank you everyone for making most amazing maps for us all to enjoy! And thank you to doomkid for introducing me to art of doom mapping (not too long ago actually)

Having the last episode shorter made me a bit uneasy as well. Let's see how many people want to make a map for the remaining slots. I'd join too, even though I still have my own bootleg Jamal Jones episode to finish 😅

I watched all the playthroughs and can not state highly enough how impressed i was with EVERY single map. So much so that i got off my ass and figured out, as a computer illiterate idiot, how to clean all the viruses and crap off my son's old computer, then also get doom off my xbox and onto it using "play anywhere". Then i figured out this Interwebboxyouvision/onlineworld of everything ive never known so that i could download and make work lzdoom. JUST SO THAT I COULD PLAY THESE LEVELS AND YOU ARE ALL WINNERS!!!! Im playing them, they are all, everything i want in a doom level, im having a blast with them! Can i give a back up first prize to Blexor with Caustic Canyon. Thats my hands down favorite. 😀 Again... Wad Of The Year!!! Again... We Need This On Unity!!! THANK YOU TO EVERY MAP MAKER!!!! AND DOOMKID!!!!

I'm currently working on a map for another community project, but once that's done, I would love to slap together another map for this. Especially making a hell map would be cool, since I went the techbase route on my submission.

And personally, I don't think it's that big of deal to delay the final release by a bit. People can already come here to play the beta, can't they? I say if there's the will and the manpower to make the end product as complete as possible, then why not?

Hooray, got all the MIDIs volume balanced, and after a lot longer than you'd think, I got 3 titlescreens put together that more accurately reflect the episodes:

Did you get my latest Midi I emailed you? Should be pretty well balanced, that's basically what I changed in the final version (plus the fade out and guitar solo)

The release could be staggered I suppose? JJ1, followed a month later by JJ2, then same with JJ3.

Would give plenty of time to get everything right with the additional levels before release if it's a speed mapping session.
