In map 13 of the first episode, I think there's some strict vanilly only thing going on because when playing in zdoom there are no clip walls and monsters falling off ledges.

If operation Get-Episode-3-To-Full-Length is go, I would STRONGLY recommend making a new thread dedicated to it specifically to keep discussion around it focused and to allow people who have checked out of this thread a chance to be made aware of what's going on.

 

It would also be wise to have a claim list in the OP of that thread to make it easy to track and correct if levels are being over- or under-produced, since I can only assume the goal would be to evenly match the other episodes' counts of 20 core + 2 secret levels.

E1 Map 14, sector 483 closets with cacos are broken.

 

EDIT: Is it just me or is map 15 missing the secret exit?

This contest was a ton of fun! and it was the motivation I needed to actually make my first full map :)

There's no secret exit (yet), but it's going to be added soon for sure. Thank you very much for these bug reports, they're very helpful and I'll be addressing all of them in the next build!

Absolutely. I'll be putting the people who have already expressed interest in mapping for E3 on the list by default, then whatever is left will be open for claims. As an aside, I think I'll be asking people primarily for shorter, speedier maps - but I won't call it "proper" speedmapping, just "do it kinda quick" mapping.

E1 M19 - there's a hom in the bfg room if you look at the bfg pillar from the platform where the first switch in the sequence is.

 

If you aren't rushing to release this on idgames, I should be done within a week. Loads of superb maps thus far, I can definitely see why it was so difficult to pick the winners. Also, Berserk is so OP, I love it. Stabbing viles has never felt so satisfying.

 

EDIT: E1 M20 - sector 1608 broken teleporter closet

 

E2 M3 - sectors 352 - 354 HOM on the rising stairs

 

E2 M4 - the yellow switch doesn't actually require the yellow key but the red key instead so if you press it early, you're royally screwed

 

E2 M8 - sector 123 switch doesn't change animation when activated

 

E2 M9 has two exits, I'm guessing it was originally intended for the map 15 slot

I'm currently at MAP17 of the first episode (been a bit busy so I'm going at a snail's pace beating this wad) and I encountered a bug in MAP13 - I couldn't open the secret closets :/

Quick-checked all map submissions for contest. And wow, I didn't realize there so many maps are good & beautiful! Gonna play this campaign once the beta is over.
Thanks to @Doomkid for organize the contest and @Large Cat for playtesting & give feedback to my map.

I seriously considered throwing a map in for the competition, but just couldn’t justify the time given my new baby and my personal project.

 

But. . . I really need to improve my speedmapping/quick and simple mapping. If you do a quick push to finish the third episode I would be very interested in participating. :)

Man, just thought I'd say again this project was super fun.  I think pretty much every map made me think, "man :( I don't stand a chance."  However, I'm just glad to have gotten a map in.  heh.  I think filling out EP3 is a great idea, also...  I'm interested, not sure about my ability to commit at the moment; but, will look forward to it.

 

You are a true master of ceremony @Doomkid.  Lots of great mappers here.

 

Also, if it's doable; a credits map might be neat too.  I don't know how doable that would be within the constraints of the wad(s); but, I think it'd be neat...

We all send in like sprites of ourselves and you put them around as textures, that would be cool

Wait, Episode 3 will be remade into a full megawad?

 

EDIT: E2M32 has loads of missing textures (like in the plasma gun room or ssg alcove for example)

 

E2M17 - felt this one had balancing issues. Player is constantly forced to perform crazy acrobatics to get their hands on the weaponry needed to deal with the challenges at hand. Progression is a bit iffy too, seeing as how the blue/red key areas are entirely optional - as a result I missed the rocket launcher because I explored the library section with the plasma rifle first.

 

E2M20 - sectors 109 and 179 crushers are broken

 

Yay, finally made it to episode 3!

 

E3M6 - there's a caco stuck above the gallows (sectors 180 and 181); sector 424 and 425 closets are broken and don't open upon crossing the tagged linedef

I can't seem to find a list of maps for this project. I keep seeing posts about bug reports on e something m something.. but I don't know what slot my map occupies so I don't know if my map are amongst the maps with bugs in them

That sounds like a really, really fun idea, I'm +1ing this.

(Edit: I just realized Vladguy was probably talking about pfps, but sending in pixelated images of our characters or irl-selves sounds fun too)

Here is the latest version of Warhevil. Many minor adjustemtns, texture alignements and stuff. Couple small gameplay changes as well. I hope everything works correctly. If anyone has any more suggestions, I'd be glad to hear them. Especially regarding the fights and difficulty, which is hard to judge for me, since I know where everything is.

There's one here, but I'm not sure if it's been changed or updated since.

@Doomkid I suggest including the list in the OP (in a spoiler if you don't want it taking too much space), or maybe just add the link to the post in the OP.

I’ll get that list included not only in the OP when I’m off my phone, but I’m the zip file of the wads as well next update. (Your map is in E2M31 just so you know!)

Loving playing through each map, currently 3/4 of the way through episode 2.

In regards to all the commentary about adding more maps to pad out episode 3 can I please throw this map into the mix.

Got the flu earlier this week and didn't venture far from either the pc or the bed.

I think from working on the previous map the geometry, enemy placement and styling came together so much more fluidly.

I am done! Took me a whole week to beat, what a mapset!

 

I have no more bugs to report. Once again, thank you all who participated - this was a blast to playthrough. Between Rudy, Ray, and Jamal, this has become my favourite campaign of the three for the sheer quantity of superb maps submitted. Great job, everyone!

Oh yeah just wanted to say I wasn't talking about pfps or images, I was talking about sprites, like for uh example those charicatures from the test map in Doom RLA.
