Jastrzab Trzeci Posted May 17, 2022 (edited) Today I was trying to add some custom weapon textures in SLADE, and I was amazed by results. There is, however, one problem. While in ports like Doom Retro or ZDoom everything works fine, crispy doom shows first custom weapon bugged, second at all, and chocolate doesn't show anything. Here you can see how the wad and gameplay in crispy looks (edit: i placed the topic in the wrong category, can it be moved?) HavoX Posted May 17, 2022 (edited) Unfortunately, Doom/Doom2.exe and Chocolate Doom (along with its fork Crispy Doom) does not have support for sprites with custom names. Also, one of your sprites is in PNG format, which is not supported in vanilla Doom. Edited May 17, 2022 by HavoX 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Jastrzab Trzeci Posted May 17, 2022 Just one clarification: that one png file wasn't meant to be used, i just didn't bother to delete it. I've also converted the rest of the files to doom format, however, I think I could do it wrong, because only part of them works. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Jastrzab Trzeci Posted May 17, 2022 (edited) Nevermind, I found the fix: I've just needed to convert the "problematic" sprites to global config. It still doesn't work with chocolate, but I don't mind it. Sorry for bothering you all Edited May 17, 2022 by Jastrzab Trzeci 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Rykzeon Posted May 17, 2022 Haven't see the GIF (because I'm too laggy right now), but I had same problem and if I remember correctly, I fixed it with using -merge <wad> parameter instead -file <wad> (in chocolate doom) 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

More details are on the Choco wiki. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Doomkid Posted May 22, 2022 If you put the sprites at the very top of the list and re-name them, both in Slade and DeHackEd/WhackEd, they’ll work just fine in vanilla. Look up my Dehacked tutorial on YT, detailed instructions are in the second half of the vid.  The easier option is to just use the -merge command rather than the -file command in Choco. 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
