PrBoom+ UMAPINFO midi player

Hi all,

What's the best midi player in PrBoom+ UMAPINFO? 

I'm currently using portmidi and SDL, but fluidsynth sounds off to me.

 

Any recommendations for better soundfonts to use?

I've been using gm dls remastered version 2 alternative.sf2 with fluidsynth, though I can't remember where i downloaded it. Basically windows' midi soundfont in higher fidelity.

Is this the one you used?

I personally use Scc1t2.sf2. The one that comes with GZDoom (and dsda-doom, if you extract it out of dsda-doom.wad) is similar. Both are pretty close to the Windows default MIDI synth.

Yes! Thanks for finding it, I was using 2.0. Downloaded 2.1 now.

 

make sure to put the path and/or filename in quotes in prboom-plus.cfg to make it use the soundfont file.

Thanks, it's all up and working now. Sounds amazing compared to portmidi :D

I use Gravis Ultrasound emulation with Timidity and SDL, at least for me, music sounds better with that
