Times you've confused a WAD with another

Sometimes you're half-tired, and you wanted to search up a WAD. Maybe you vaguely remember it or you liked one of the maps from it. You look it up and.. Oh no! it seems that you typed up PRCP instead of JPCP! Maybe it's the similar title, or the similar concepts. Who knows?

Has this or a similar occurence ever happened to you?

HellBound, HellGround, HellCore. Every time anyone mentions any of the 3, I've always thought they were talking about HellCore.. MtPain and I had a very confusing conversation (for me) a while back because I got them mixed up!

I always only think Hell Ground when hearing Hellbound (still double checking that I didn't mix them up). Likely because Hell Ground was one of the first wads I played, and have only recently heard about Hellbound for some reason, but I've been hearing it mentioned around every corner lately. I'll take that as a sign that I should play it!

 

Valhalla, Warphouse and Putrifier, because they're labeled "ma_val", "ma_wrp" and "ma_put"

 

Resurgence with Moonblood, and Unloved with Deathless. I have no idea why, they're not even related, but I do this all the time and there are likely way more that I have mixed up in my head.

 

I may edit this and add more, not if but when I find more that I confuse together. I've always had trouble remembering the names of things: titles to songs, programs, source ports, etc. It's not even due to a bad memory, it's that I don't even seem to bother committing the names to memory in the first place. Not to derail the topic, but every band I played drums for, someone would call out a song we're gonna do next and I'm like, "I don't know what that is, just start the song and I'll get it."

congestion 1024 and claustrophobia 1024. it wasn't until around a year ago that i actually learned those were two separate wads and not just two names for the same thing, lol

Moonlight and Candlemass. They looked the same to me but play drastically differently and are both still worth a play.

Hellbound is great, but it can be a bit dull at times. It's more memorable on a visual/atmospheric level than anything. The overall gameplay and map design is nothing special in my opinion.

Just a tip for the future: Those two can be easily told apart when you remember that 'Antaresian Legacy' is just the sudheading/subtitle - it's actually called 'Struggle: Antaresian Legacy'. This way you have 'Struggle (Antaresian Legacy)' on the one hand and 'Antaresian Reliquary' on the other. At least that's how I tell those two apart.

This actually happened to me, I thought I accidentally downloaded JPCP but when I started playing it I realized it's PRCP.

I also confused Hellground with Hellbound.

Same. The beginning of Doom Eternal is good, but I always give up at Darkdome. I'm sorry, but Mick Gordon's music just doesn't put me in a switch-hunting mood.

 

@Doomkid Following that pattern leads me to believe that "Plutonia: Over 9000!!!" is currently in development.

Abysm Dawn of Innocence and Abysm Infernal Contract, always seem to get them confused with eachother and load the wrong one.
