PLEASE treat this WAD with respect, play it in the appropriate source ports (DSDA-Doom, or any port that supports and I quote "MBF21, DEHEXTRA, UMAPINFO

literally none of those ports worked for me, i tried downloading each one and they gave me different errors when i tried to open them

I'm not sure why but i have unique computer problems I Guess, things tend to not work for no reason, and no one ever can figure out why in any forums,
(for instance XNALaraXPS never opens anymore, with no error message, and Slade now has a green flickering blurriness in the preview window, as well as other apps flickering green,)

Zandronum, Edge & Brutal Doom also are always glitchy AF & half the stuff in them doesn't work right.

GZDoom is pretty perfect, it's simple, clean, yet luxurious in its potential. And if GZDoom gets too esoteric for older computers you can just use an older version,  I mean to show respect to your wad but I figured why not try it in GZDoom? The rifle doesn't fire right away, so I opened it in Slade to see if there was some simple fix like cancelling out some text in the dehacked or making a simple decorate, but no luck there lol..

wondering if you could make a simple zdoom version?

I'm not really sure why there's still a lot of people supporting other ports that don't seem to do as much & have more technical issues. When it comes to social media platforms a lot of people are struggling to spread out users among new platforms, getting away from the mainstream monopolies, but in the doom world there's no predatory profit involved so I don't see the harm in just using the one big best port all the time. Decentralization is definitely very important but I dunno am I guilty for just using GZDoom all the time?

So many mods I download they tell you "USE THIS PORT NOT GZDOOM or ELSE" & I'm like "oh well" and I end up tweaking them so they work in GZDoom anyway or they just go in storage.

but maybe don't mind me, I have a lot of problems no one else has lolololol

Have you considered that MAYBE if it doesn't work for GZDoom you should try to report on their github exactly where and how it breaks so it can be fixed for everyone instead of you having to manually edit WADs or "leave them in storage", whatever that even means? As it is you are doing a disservice to the WAD creator since you are criticizing them for correctly using whichever specification they wish to use, and also a disservice to GZDoom for inexplicably not reporting bugs that you run into.

@spacelion88

What version of GZDoom are you using? This wad uses MBF21, support for which was added very recently and was/is still experimental. Try upgrading to the latest version, hopefully it'll work.

If it doesn't, post the exact errors you're getting. It'll be useful in pin-pointing the source of the issue to help us solve the problems you're having.

I'm not sure you actually understand what the required features are or what ports support them if you're referring to "ports" in plural.

This isn't about decentralization or rejecting corporate monopolies, it's about the simple fact that different source ports have different feature sets for different audiences. GZDoom does a lot of things well, but it does not and cannot do everything.

Until you try speedrunning. Then GZDoom is actually pretty crappy:
- No ability to viddump

- Gotta use the exact GZDoom version that the demo was recorded in, as using a different one means desync

- So inaccurate to the original doom games that it's actually mind boggling.

Each port has its use, and GZDoom is possibly the worst one to have as a "jack of all trades" when it completely flunks it on multiple trades. The best way to do it is to have multiple sourceports like Thanos' infinity stones.

- DSDA-Doom for demo recording, viddumping, support for the latest features (MBF21) (It's also my personal choice over PRBoom+ and I use it for casual play aswell)

- GZDoom/ZDoom for Hexen in Doom format/ZDoom wads and .pk3s

- Zandronum for ZDoom wad/.pk3 multiplayer

- Woof for co-op, both casual and demo recording.

- Crispy Doom for the ultimate vanilla experience.

As for errors, well, these different ports aren't pick up and play like GZdoom/ZDoom/Zandronum, sure, but all you need is to just read/watch some tutorials (dsda-doom has a literal thread dedicated on how to use it) and you're good to go. DSDA-Doom in particular has a third party launcher called the DSDA-Launcher where you have it all in GUI form and it'll do commandlines for you like setting up the proper complevel (certain wads need certain complevels to be set by you, the player). With ports like Woof, Crispy and PRBoom+, you will have to use a batch file with commands to start up what you want.
