Gregor Posted June 23, 2022 (edited) Hi there. So i recently upgraded my APU desktop with an RTX 2060, and i noticed that it negatively impacts the colors of my display. Everything is more desaturated or the gamma is too high or something... Anyways, i tinkered with the nvidia display options a bit to the point where it's pretty much ok for most of my needs. Not great but ok. However, when playing Doom i noticed there's now this huge gulf between OpenGL and Software renderer. I used DSDA and with the Software renderer the scene is way darker, with stronger colors while the OpenGL is far brighter and "milky" even with gamma set 0. It's the same under GZDoom. There obviously isn't supposed to be this kinda difference. I have no real experience with graphics cards and don't know how to alleviate this issue. Any ideas? Sound familiar to anyone? Dimon12321 Posted June 25, 2022 What do elder versions show? Maybe @Xaser could provide more info, because he was improving OpenGL lately 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
TheMagicMushroomMan Posted June 25, 2022 (edited) Probably a dumb suggestion, but could it possibly be related to HDR (if you have an HDR monitor/tv)? I have a TV with shitty HDR that gives everything a grey, washed out look when HDR is enabled. You also might want to dig around in your GPU settings to see if something is wrong there. I think that's likely where the problem is. If you are having to mess with the saturation/contrast/brightness settings in the nvidia panel just to get things to look right, you've got a problem with either your settings there, or it could be a problem with the display itself. Check if your range is set to limited or full as well. Black level set to limited instead of full is the most common cause of washed out visuals. Both of my GPU's defaulted to limited when I installed them. If you're on limited, ten dollars says that's your problem. I have run into that problem so many times with people who aren't into calibration. It's an insanely common problem people run into with televisions and monitors in general, with their PC's and consoles. Luckily it's an easy problem to fix, so hopefully that's what's going on here. Well, blimey! i found that in the nvidia setting under resolution the dynamic range was indeed set to "limited". Looks like that cleared up the issue. Thanks for your help, man! Very much appreciated. Cheers! Edited June 25, 2022 by Gregor 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
