Baron Door: Trilogy of megawads! Now on ID GANES!!

Man with Gun is absolutely crazy... like a fox.  This actually run fine for me in DSDA Doom, then ran through in GZDoom with no monsters for a screenshot and ran fine there.  Don't think the monsters will add much so it might run alright in GZDoom if you have a decent modern pc but haven't tested it fully.  Anyway obviously a gorgeous map, gameplay is a fun open, nonlinear affair with some nice big lock in encounters, I enjoyed it!  I had a similar issue as Pistoolkip finding the switch to get out of a locked area, I might second modifying that, but didn't have any other issues.  Some of the uneven floors feel a bit wonky to go over, but it also feels very different on DSDA doom to me so might just me getting used to it.  Thanks Man With Gun for this insanity!  Sorry, insatanity.

Yay I finished Baron Door! What a wacky night full of guests and chaos - I'm not entirely sure what happened lol but it was fun

 

On to Bonus Door and one step closer to ID games!

Played BARONDOOR and it's truly amazing. At first I was somewhat confused about what to do - but then I learned how to stop worrying and love the door. As a true baron appreciator myself, I really like the usage of them here. I love when maps are training you to think out of the box in the very flexible playspace of Doom. That's why I love barons - you don't just need your senses titilated, but also your intellect. ;)

 

PS: pleasantly surprised by the amount of monster paralysis in doors.

Big video - just smashing my way through these maps - when taking them on at this velocity I can see and admire the chaos, and random clever ideas, concepts and themes - I love it lol

Finally got around to starting these maps, and they're pretty nuts. I'm only up to MAP16 on Baron Door, but the quality and creativity on a lot of these maps is seriously impressive! Some random quick notes from some of the maps I've played so far:

 

MAP05: High tension on this level for me. I was yelling at those door pillar things to hurry the hell up more than once!

MAP12: Awesome idea for a setting, fun to play, and tons of Doomcute everywhere!

MAP14: Incredible scope and detail! There's more detail work put into the BACKDROPS than in entire Megawads!

MAP15: This was just a super solid map all around. Looked great, and the gameplay was top notch to me as well. I also really liked the secrets! (and actually found all of them, which is rare for me)

MAP16: I <3 the rocket launcher (and mowing down high tier monsters with said rocket launcher).

 

So far, so good. Can't wait to play more of it!

@MAN_WITH_GUN this feels like the main event of the set - I am truly honoured to have this contribution in our silly little community project - you should hold your head up high - this is a MASTERPIECE!

Well guys we made it - all slots have been filled. We will have 96 maps across 3 wads.

 

My goal now it to receive the final maps and play em all before sending to ID games

 

Special thanks to @Death Bear who has something special planned for the second half of FINALDOOR.WAD

Well guys, something amazing and unexpected happened

 

I wasn't sure if we were going to fill Final door, but @Death Bear surprised us all by going to town and sharpening his speedmapping skills

 

Single handedly made maps 16-18 & 20-32

 

check em up and download the file in the opening post again

 

good times - we are close now! just waiting on 2 maps from others

We are one step closer my friends - we have a new map by @Zulk RS

 

BONUS DOOR map 28: WTF.wad - looks like a hefty beast - I will tackle it in an upcoming vid - check it out!

 

One more map and we can finally wrap this in a bow :D

Here is the video of my playing @Zulk RS map - yes it's a long but ultimately I enjoyed some interesting set pieces and had a memorable time - lots of laughs when @MAN_WITH_GUN and @Biodegradable showed up - always fun

I played the last submitted map last night with a bunch of good friends

 

 

 

The map was crazy difficult but that's okay but I found it interesting I like a lot of the layout and attention to design

 

I guess @DiR will be sending one last update and then hopefully I can send it to ID games real soon 😄
