thiccyosh Posted June 25, 2022 (edited) Hello beautiful people of Doomworld.com, I need some assistance with my highly experimental BOOM dehacked project. I added a feature that whenever a blood splat gets spawned, that it turns into a pool of blood on the floor. All right, it works fine enough on ground-level. But! Whenever an enemy gets damaged by hitscan on a moving floor like on a lift, those pools of blood just get stuck in the air or in the floor and it looks like utter crap afterwards (See pics below). Which is strange considering that other things like enemies, weapons or even decor aren't affected by this odd bug. And I can't remember seeing that bug anywhere else with just placed things. My question is: is there a workaround to that problem? I have tried some ideas on how to fix that bug like adding more states or messing around with flags (that you can tick on and off in WhackEd4), all of them failed. Hard. My intention is that those puddles of blood act like breadcrumbs in large maps in case you get lost, and making them vanish like some shady magic trick isn't my goal in this case. And I'm not willing to make maps without any lifts, moving floors etc. That would be Wolfenstein 3D all over again. Details: -Will provide the entire project if absolutely needed. -It's a Boom project -only should run in ports like dsda-doom or PrBoom-plus Umapinfo as those achieve the results I want ingame as this project is a source port nightmare to fix every single detail. -I did not change flags on the blood splatter or pool of blood. Whenever I tried something I would always restore both after I was done testing. -Yes I have used the Googles and the almighty Doomworld.com searchbar™, didn't find anything useable. Help is greatly appreciated, though I have the feeling that it's a well known engine bug involving internal flags that everyone and their grandmother knows and I just wasted 30 minutes writing this topic. Making me look like a total jackass. Have a nice day. Edited June 25, 2022 by thiccyosh 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Aurelius Posted June 25, 2022 Remove the NOBLOCKMAP flag from the "Blood splat" thing. It's called "Visible & untouchable" in Whacked4. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
