Doom 64 Reloaded for the Doom 64 Remaster (Steam, GOG, Epic Games, Bethesda.net, Game Pass)

Zoya took the time to make this cool video all about Reloaded.

Ok I had to delete the last announcement as no sooner had I proudly announced the 'final' update to Doom64 Reloaded. jgs1989 found a bork where Id left the starting point in the map Crisis... in the secret shrine room lol. But that sort of doofusness is pretty standard for me.

So anyways... with that fixed. jgs1989 has played through the whole thing again... and found no more bugs.

So here it is... the 'was' new years day... final update, but probably not, of Doom64 Reloaded - Remaster.

List of changes... I can remember.

1 Switches moved in Breakdown. The switches in the starting area were tricky to spot in that thick fog ... Alpha textures added... an extra bit of passage.

2 Switch moved in Tech Centre. That switch after the crushers... that everyone misses... then has to go all the way back round again to press.

3 Rad-Shield re-sprite. Based off of the Alpha MedKit sprite.

4 Medkit and Simpack re-sprite. Little bit of alpha design to them now.

5 Silly alpha Rad Suit added as a joke. Can you find it?

6 Super-Charge sprite enhancement. Now has glowing eyes.

7 New texture using Alpha menu skull. Used for the top trim in the starting room of The Bleeding.

8 Jetx get's a proper shrine. With a proper dart messages.

9 Darts slowed in both Forbidden Deeper and Spawned Fear. Makes them more fun and less of a pain if you have low health.

10 Dark Entries has had quite a bit of retexturing. Replacing a lot of the 'hell' textures with 'castle' texture. As its part of the 'castle' themed levels... it looked like a mish-mash of both.

11 The textures 'The Shadow Caster' and 'The Script Keeper' removed from mine and Dexiaz's shrine. I was going to add such a texture to each shrine... but then didn't... so seemed odd to leave those in.
12 Custom switch in OutPost Omega. Makes it a bit more obvious what the switch does.
13 Extra room added to PitFalls. Inspired.. but not the same... as the one in the Alpha version.

14 Medea Floyen has been locked away deep within The Cacacombs where she can no longer trouble us.

Thinking this might not be the final update and I may add extra maps. I do have some half built ones in my dusty ole sock draw.
So if you'd like to see even more content let me know. 

Here one such map... Evil Intent..... will be a short blast-fest with little back tracking.

Yes, you can. Just unzip the zip file at the directory where D64 is installed and run the #RUN batch file.

So I downloaded an older Doom 64 steam version as the last updated versions do not work with the mouse x / y patch. It worked without doom reloaded just fine. But when trying to load it with this mod it crashes to the desctop even before the main screen. Before this I installed it with doom ex, which also worked, even with this mod. But the mouse input was laggy when strafing which seems to be a known problem with doom ex. There must be a way to play doom 64 reloaded with proper mouse input, right? Or are we stuck with either choppy gameplay (doom 64 ex) or no vertical mouse look (doom 64 steam) ?

There is a Doom 64 EX+ version being debugged, where you will get the remaster levels but with mouse support, and likely it wont be choppy either!

Thanks for your suggestion. I downloaded doom64ex-plus-3.6.5.3 for windows and I put -file "DOOM64EX_RELOADED_V1C.wad" as "other parameters" in the launcher. The game does not load up with the mod and either crashes right away or before the first map is loaded. It works without the mod though, and mouse seems good. Can anyone confirm this its working?

I think the Reloaded version might still be being debugged for EX+.  You can try the following version, but I am not sure if it loads properly yet.

Quick Off-topic question: Is posible to have the weapons with sleeve without the other maps? Nothing wrong with it, but I also want to play the vanilla game but with, and I doesn't seem to exist a mod for that. How is possible to make a modification like that? :S

It's definitely possible to make a gameplay mod based on Reloaded with its weapons and assets, but for vanilla Doom 64 levels or any custom levels for that matter. Just a matter of deleting the maps/skydefs/animdefs/mapinfo from the WAD.

One issue is your KPF patcher kinda doesnt work well, it just creates a directory inside the Doom64 kpf file and it makes a new directory like this everytime its run. so I had to manually install the new menu graphics.

 

Otherwise its a great mod and in testing I am glad it works on STEAM and GOG which I own Doom 64 on both.

It might because Im on windows 11 (brand new laptop from 2022) but I can always test again if you guys need me too. 

 

also keep the misspellings :) 

you can also have immorpher poke me on discord if he needs more, I am part of his doom 64 discord same screenname as on here or he can send me a pm or ping me.

It also doesn't work on my Windows 10 (a 2016-ish laptop I received back in 2021). Paraphrasing Immorpher, it looks like batch files don't always work the same on various computers.

This review from Patrick warms my heart. In particular the very last paragraph.
I guess you have to be in your 30s now... and played this originally on the N64 when you was 10-12 yrs old.
Funny how back then so much of what made Doom 64 so memorable was the things we injected into it with our own then limitless imaginations. 
So Im glad I could bring an updated version... that brings that experience to us now adults... that sadly lost that imagination.
Ive had numours comments from people stating  'This feel like Doom64 when I played it as a kid' and that is the biggest compliment of all.

Well I never got the chance to play Doom 64 as a youngin my first contact with the game was when kaiser released Doom 64 EX way back when but I love reloaded just the same @AtomicFrog you added so much and the idea of a good and bad ending has me trying find those demon keys, you deserve all the praise for this project and thank you for bringing to the remaster.

So Ive decided there will definitely be at least more more addition to Reloaded.
Evil Intent will be a secret map found in PitFalls. It will only be unlockable on WMD.
Themed as Hell's Asylum... the Mother Demon has thrown all those Demons so insane and chaotic that even she can't control them, into this hell hole.
Map layout will be ultra simple. No back tracking. No searching for keys etc. 
It will be all about fighting your way out of this place alive. 
Might even make it 'Unmaker necessary' and not worry to much about it being a pistol start map. We will see.
it will just be an optional secret map. No needed things to obtain by defeating it.
