poisonhead Posted July 2, 2022 (edited) Old topic went dead so I created a new one. I'm still creating my addiction, heartbreak, insanity, loneliness, ruin and misery inspired map(s). Got over 12 megabytes of custom textures, flats, titlescreen and a few sounds and sprites... I'd need some Vanilla-compatible flying monster (or two, one should be realistic hawk or some giant bird whilst other should be some kind of a demon), can anyone help me to find sprites and dehacked? Sounds would be nice too but they I can make myself too... I've also got photographs of used needles etc stuff of misery that I'd like to see as decent sprites. Think I've seen only one needle sprite and one or two medicine container and they didn't look realistic at all. I can put the pics online or send them if someone is interested in trying to have a go at it. I'm also looking for a turtle sprite (and not a teenage mutant ninja turtle one) or maybe model. I've got this side project I've been thinking of for two decades and finally got some ideas how I maybe could do it. Also I've got problems with a few animations etc. I'll post more later. I'm dead tired, frustrated, depressed, in pains etc. I'd like to also implement withdrawal system. How could it be done? Especially for multiple substances? It'd be so cool that when the Doom guy doesn't get his fix, depending on the substance, he'd get shakes, start slowly losing health, having episodes of panic, rage etc. This is one thing I was thinking without the withdrawal system too, how would one make Doom guy get a panic attack? Like maybe blur or darken the vision, possibly play fast heart-beat sound, make him turn around and run back or collapse or something.... Wish I wasn't this broken, tired, undermedicated, horny, terminally lonely etc but modding Doom II is the only thing I've got left and would like to try to pour more of my pain into it. Also if somebody wants to try to collab I wouldn't mind. I've got all these ideas and a few rooms and stuff but kinda like when I was trying to write music it was all over the place, I was unable to make a coherent anything. I just wish my hundreds hours of work wouldn't go all to waste, if I were to not wake up tomorrow, I'd like somebody to release my unfinished work or maybe try to finish it? I'd surely like to see and hear what people think of my textures and shit but was hoping to try to make some sort of map myself first... I was wondering too could it be possible to have different maps be in different formats? Currently doing limit removing vanilla stuff but was thinking that if I have the time I could try some other format(s). What about having an optional .mp3 soundtrack for modern ports, how would it work? Are there any human monsters/friendlies for Vanilla Doom? And how easy would it be to make a monster run away from you (and be so fast you can't catch him) with dehacked? Also I'd like to find simple explanation of how to sacrifice monsters for ambient sounds? I almost get it but I'm too tired to understand and implement 100%... Also, are there any animals for vanilla doom? Mice and birds would be nice if nothing else (I don't want a dog). and one last thing, are there any terrain generators? I'd like to do outdoors and instead of having to do a zillion tiny sectors by hand some randomizer would be awesome.... Sorry for this mess of a post. Will be trying to make something later today, still struggling to spend and hour or two without alcohol and stimulants. Speaking of alcohol, beer bottles I've found have been pretty crappy. Beer is for amateurs anyway. I converted one whiskey bottle but could use more alcohol/drug/misery related graphics. Have a better day than me and thanks a lot in advance if anyone can help me in any area and I'm sure I can't remember everything. I've got (too) many ideas and would like to see at least one or two come to fruition before I kick the bucket. Also in one part of the map there is this chess/boardgame type of thing, like flats and I was wondering what I could use as a token or so? One idea was voodoo doll with modified sprite but I'd need to give Doom Guy total invulnerability so I could shoot rockets at it to make it move across the board. Better ideas? I'm sure I'll return with more questions if I'll get any answers to these. Sorry that besides my bad mental state english isn't my mother tongue. edit: I still have the same problems from previous threads, Slade complains about missing VCOMP140.DLL even though I installed Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio and SlumpEd gives me "The program can't start because MSVCP71.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." I'm stuck with XWE. I still suffer from that it shows Doom II textures too when I select my texture wad in UDB and I don't know how to make 512 to 1024px skies with XWE? I can only make 256x128 ones... I feel there are a ton of ideas but nothing leads to somewhere. Try to focus on one thing at a time. You mention this yourself aswell. And yeah I'd like to have a limit removing vanilla map that would have something like zdoomaddons.pk3 or sumtin that'd give mp3 music and possibly some better effects but vanilla is what I'm familiar with and done so soulcrushingly much converting assets to vanilla so it's also one reason I don't wanna jump into zdoom only with my main level but was thinking of dabbling, trying something different and simple in UDMF or sumtin. I'm sorry my mind is in shambles in this f*cked up constantly changing but cold, cruel, lonely, chemical world with way too much problems (I won't go into details but let's say like today I had to fish my [shittier acoustic that's not ahock] guitar from a dump truck. I don't have shoes to walk on except way too small winter boots and my feet are already on blisters and looks like infection) but yet I fire up my '09 half-dead batteryless laptop that keeps shutting down due to overheating to try to take this project further. My resources wad is already bigger than regular Doom II wad (so _lot's_ of borrowed and even more edits and most made from scrath graphics and stuff). Lately I've learned to understand dehacked and made one "enemy" (can't attack and won't count to kill count but animal that can be killed) and some destructible scenery. I like trying to take everything out of Vanilla I can get even though I keep going the limits. I just don't feel smart enough to learn the ports and feel like I wouldn't need that much stuff that I'm not doing now but because ZDoom is my preferred port to play other wads and I keep testing this one at first I was wondering if it'd be possible of having like optional soundtrack of .mp3 or .ogg or sumtin? That I could include as extra wad or .pk3 or sumtin. I've got some pretty twisted soundscapes made live with synths and stuff so I just thought that they'd probably rival the MIDIs or be nice extra alternative to have IF it is easily done? I'm vanilla all the way except limits so I don't understand but would surely appreciate 'forZDoomers.pk3' etc if one could be made to possibly enhance the experience. Wish I wasn't so bad at writing, wasted and unknown but I was thinking about a community project where he or she would try to convey his/her darkest reality and in some way (whether symbolic or concrete) to Doom (II). Everyone would make a piece(s) of my mind kinda map or something like that. Whether it be syringes or pure symbolism I would love to see other people's "mind palaces". Deadline would help, I've spent eternity on my bathroom alone :D But got many ideas and pieces of some that I'm contemplating whether I should make them into multiwad or several projects or just one weird dope show where you just move from different theme/feel to another. But I'd like to change music and mid-level that'd require a port..... but if there's anyone who _might_ consider joining forces, you can do so with anonymity by direct messaging me if somebody doesn't want their hands on what _could_ be one of the darkest, weird and most memorable wads people be doing videos of 10-20 years from now :D Sorry even my humour sucks from this goddamn solitude... What'd be the easiest and most fool-proof way of after getting a message to get ready to race to get some really nasty (melee attack only with sh*tload of power!) monster to follow you? It'd be so cool to have Doom Guy read the text and hear from behind "you better run!". But NOT from the same _old_ cyberdemon, I wanna something new. Maybe I'll be able to do it besides the sprites but I'm hoping to avoid any bugs and hoping I'm not doing it the hardest way as I'm still a noob :) Also wondered if there are there custom monsters anywhere that'd be _simpler_ include to vanilla doom instead of having to manually cut a sprite sheet into 50+ pieces and make sure the sizes and positions are right? (besides dissecting mid-nineties wads). I don't care so much which monsters I lose as I don't tend to use many, always found maps with all of them cheezy. New monsters could rock and _if_ somebody wants to contribute custom weapons I'd be happy to do so even though I can still put up with vanilla weapons. If half of this is true, sell the laptop and get some personal equipment. Your own stake is worth more than contributing to Doom. I haven't practiced music, been too sad and electric gtr is pawned and I don't have space, wires etc to do music with the synths I still have. I was talking about music I did before everything went to hell.... Anyway, guess I forgot to say that I asked about Doom Guy's shoe size because I made boots for him (or at least tried :D). Lately been doing mostly graphics and dehacked and a few rooms, one nice one. I found that it's pretty easy and very satisfying to make more things destroyable besides monsters, I made shootable trees, beer bottle, rock etc but suddenly noticed that projectiles not only go through them but through all walls, including one sided unpassable ones. I've done nothing to rocket launcher, projectiles etc so why is this happening? Besides this glitch I find it weird there's so little breakable stuff in wads. I'm still wondering what's the easiest and smartest way to do breakable glass in vanilla Doom II? Also I'm still looking for monsters that'd be _easily_ incorporated, hoping to replace a few default ones. I can find mostly ZDoom, Boom, dehacked etc requiring monsters but not many that'd be in separate images (and not in one sheet) that would be easy to import. I don't mind little renaming, fixing, doing sounds etc but to cut up a sprite sheet of 30+ sprites and try to put them to the right place, it's too much, I've got so limited time :( Haven't there before been real world misery, substance abuse, mental illness and/or loneliness influenced maps? I really need a civilian or two and some flying monster _the least_, hopefully more...so tired of default monsters and too much to draw my own and I don't have the skill, barely grasping how to import stuff etc. I thank for all replies. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
