Which weapons would you like to see in Doom III?

Why are you guys debating realistic weapons? We are talking about an id game here :P They make weapons/monsters so the game is balanced. Who cares if they don't use chainsaws on mars or that supershotguns are old?

As long as the unrealistic older weapons look like they could've been made in 2145 I'm ok with it. Besides, Doom just has to have the chainsaw in it.

Because it's fun.

I could also turn it around (this is another reason for my opinion) and say that it's a matter of design taste - what you think looks cool and what you don't think looks cool.

And I happen to think that a gritty futuristic weapon looks more badass than a rusty old farmer's shotgun (which imo looks too plain and uninspiring).

This is probably more the reason why I think the relic idea is gay than anything else - but again, this is just my opinion.

I find it kinda funny that you can't stand goth fantasy design, but as soon as someone mentions a relic shotgun you don't give a crap. I could ask you the question: Who cares how well-designed the environment is and if it has emphasis on goth?
I mean for crap's sake, you wouldn't want Doom 3 to have a lousy architechture (and look like something straight out of Quake - I know your opinion on this a little too well) when the engine allows for really kickass architechture in the maps, now would ya?

I'll tell you who cares about old shotguns - guys with a taste in gritty sci-fi designs - like myself. I wouldn't want to throw the id artists' imagination talents out of the window for the sake of having an old shotgun (which we've ALL seen before) instead of a shotgun with an interesting, inspriring new design.

An interesting new design that we know damn well will just be stupid, like every other futuristic shotgun in the other games out there. Imo even the new fully automatic shotguns take away from the fun because it takes away the feel of a shotgun now its just another machine gun and its no fun.

We won't know if it *could* turn out cool. In my eyes, a relic shotgun would be just as stupid, if not more stupid.
