Nacho_y Posted July 5, 2022 Hi. I'm searching wads with interesting visuals so I can get an idea on how to make a good looking one. It has to be with vanilla textures if possible. Noiser Posted July 5, 2022 (edited) Mutabor is one of the most impressive vanilla-compatible maps I ever saw. 1000 Lines 3, Doom 2 in Spain Only and the Egg Boy's crew mapsets are also recent examples (most of them use custom textures though). Doom 64 for Doom 2 have some very impressive architecture in it, despite being a "remake". Berubaretto Posted July 5, 2022 (edited) No End In Sight is a good example of using vanilla doom's textures(though it has some textures from alpha doom). Sharp Thing,a single level for ultimate doom created by Xaser, is another good example,despite using few textures from other sources. If you have interests in Plutonia's texture,you can also check Cydonia,which emulates orignal Plutonia's style perfectly. I didn't know there was a recreation of Doom 64! I tried the bethesda d64 but didn't like it at all. I will definitely give that a try! As a side note, just saw 1000 lines 3 and its incredible. Shepardus Posted July 7, 2022 The Squonker team has made a bunch of vanilla-compatible wads with custom textures, such as Pagodia, Moonlit District, and Mayan Reynolds. BTSX is also an obvious mention for vanilla compatibility (with custom resources). Down the Drain has some interesting-looking maps (for certain definitions of "interesting" anyway), and is vanilla compatible with only vanilla textures. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

With the exception of skies and some custom lava/waterfall textures (as well as some flipped versions of certain middle textures because my OCD was bothering me), the whole intention of Dominus was to be vanilla-esque, just with more detail.
