Get it here! https://www.dropbox.com/s/0dfr1ztey74m75n/hordamex.zip?dl=0 You'll need the multiplayer source port Odamex 10.2 or above to run it as expected, obtainable here: https://odamex.net/ You can play any of the maps in single-player or with friends online! Keep an eye out for Monday Night Horde that kicks off every Monday evening at 8:00pm EST in the Odamex discord! There are also standing Horde servers that are up and running 24/7 that run various map packs, Hordamex included! Since early July, in tandem with the Hellforge community, we've been hard at work with this monster of a multiplayer community map pack. After a couple final playtests, I believe that all the i's have received their dots, and all the t's are adorned with their crosses. A worthy mention that since the last Release Candidate posting, we've had three new maps added! Want to feast your eyes on even more screenshots than what we had earlier in the thread? Say no more! Spoiler A fresh wave begins during the opening of Dragonfly's MAP53 - Contained! All's quiet as the computers do computer things in electricbrass' MAP54 - Neutron ZCDR. It appears as though there's a bug problem in the offices of RastaManGames' MAP27 - Overworking! You may have to find another place to park in Big Smoke's MAP24 - Corruption Factory! A shotgunner seems to already be interested in other things in the opening moments of Remmirath's MAP21 - Rip and Teal. One moment, you were relaxing in the autumnal vibes of Dac's MAP18 - Chacal. It looks like these oddly-familiar Lost Souls have other ideas, though... In addition to the incredible amount of quality maps that these contributors smashed together, this project sports forty-two wave definitions for Odamex's Horde game mode, ensuring a different run through every time you play a map! Within those wave definitions, you may run into a few of the sixty-six custom enemies! This project was powered by @MTrop's DoomTools, and especially DecoHack! This lovely tool allowed us to feed it Decorate-style coding and receive an MBF21-compatible DEHACKED output, which, in tandem with Odamex's implementation of DEHEXTRA, led to us nearly maxing out the extra available states, things and sounds! The scope of this project was truly eye-popping thanks to the addictive quality of Horde gameplay and the approachability of mapping for this mode. I would like to end this release announcement post with a thank you once again to my co-leaders who I was able to wrangle in on this project, and who I have leaned on in various ways throughout its development: @killingblair, @Bridgeburner56, @Major Arlene, @Liberation, @Kaapeli47, @Jimmy, and @ShakarAtar! Each of you had something great to bring to the table and helped shaped Hordamex up to be a top-tier multiplayer community project. Doom Central's @killingblair in particular gets a special shoutout, as a core contributor in being both a developer of Odamex and as our playtest server hoster, without which, we would not have nearly as much fun making the project. Without those multi-hour playtest sessions, I'm pretty sure we wouldn't make it this far. Thank you Blair, it was a pleasure to work closely with you on this project! Last but most certainly not least, Blair was not the only Odamex official I was able to work with on this project. Source port development is typically a thankless job, but not in this instance! I want to extent a personal thanks to the Odamex team: @Ralphis, @AlexMax, and @electricbrass for outstanding support on both my endless GitHub tickets and for answering questions in the Hordamex channels on the Hellforge Discord. Without all of the names mentioned in this post, this community project would have remained a spark in my imagination. On that note, major props to @Amuscaria for some phenomenal sprites from the Hell-Forged series that made up for some great custom monsters in this project.
