If you've ever looked at the DSDA upload feed, you'll see that most of the current submissions are done on varying versions of DSDA-Doom, along with some other ports like Woof!, or old PrBoom+ versions. This is just a fun poll for the sake of curiosity, which port (and version) do you primarily run on? If you use old versions, are you holding out for a reason or is it just laziness?

Notes:
- DSDA-Doom and PrBoom+ options have more variability because they are easily the two highest used ports currently, with many different versions of DSDA-Doom, and a handful of PrBoom+ versions being used to record.

- PrBoom+ options are split into the current (2.6), UMAPINFO introduction (2.5.1.5 - 2.5.1.7) and pre-UMAPINFO (2.5.1.4 and before).

- Submissions from ports like Crispy and Chocolate are becoming exceedingly rare to the point that it doesn't really make sense to split a bunch of different options for their older versions.

- (G)ZDoom family ports have been left out, obviously, because you're not really going to use one of them except to record on a wad designed for them.

Currently running on DSDA-Doom v22.5, from v21.x, from 19.7, from 18.0 I think... I don't stay very consistent with updating for some reason, but holding out for v25.0 before I update again :)

Huh? How come?

I use GZdoom, with as many "vanilla" options possible and no filtering.

Because the title specifies "run on" and GZDoom demos aren't vanilla compatible, which is required for a demo to be submitted. Of course you can play GZDoom or any source port you enjoy as much as you want but they're not used for speedrunning (except ZDoom exclusive WADs as stated since there's no other option)

My bad, i didn't realize this was a topic in the "demo submissions", i usually just check the undread topics and topic title only.

I held out on pr+ for quite some time before switching to DSDA, but DSDA's features are just too good. :D Can be a pain to switch, but it's totally worth it. For co-op, I also use Woof since that's the best port for co-op support, alongside Crispy, but with more WADs to choose from. :)

I started making demos in prboom+ but I had problems making them so i switched to dsda-doom because of recommendations. I don't need another sourceport because it's the best by far to make demos and because it's also my favorite to play doom casually :)

I've been using 0.23.0, holding out for 0.25, but have only just gotten 0.24.3 because of a problem that was discovered with my latest WAD by someone else using 0.24.x.

The newest Woof update has me using it as my primary source port now. You couldn't restart demos at the intermission screen until 10.0.3. I love it for its simplicity. I use DSDA-Doom to make videos and export text files to verify my runs. :) I always make sure to keep both updated to their latest stable version.

I was surprised to see DSDA as the top. I had never heard of it. I downloaded it and immediately see why.

But, one thing I can't seem to find in the options is a way to have a HUD like this, as seen in PrBoom+:

I really like looking at the full gun animations.

Is this possible in DSDA Doom?

That's the "advanced HUD," which comes from Boom and is the same in dsda-doom as it is in PrBoom+. Press "+" to enlarge the game area until the status bar is hidden, then once more to display the advanced HUD. Press F5 to cycle between different layouts of the advanced HUD. Press "-" to shrink the game area, returning to the status bar HUD.

I'm currently using dsda-doom v0.24.2. I don't remember why I didn't upgrade to v0.24.3, probably just came too soon after v0.24.2 and without enough additions/fixes for me to bother. At this point I'm just waiting for 0.25 to drop before updating again.

I've always been lazy when it comes to updating especially if you have to mess with the settings to get it the same as to what you were use to. Anyway I used DSDA Doom 19.7 for a while but switched to 23.0 at the start of this year. Maybe by next year Ill update again :^)

Still using DSDA-Doom 0.19.7, but why 0.19.7 has "v", not others in the poll? :P

I just in general don't like to upgrade my stuff until very necessary. For example... I'm still using Microsoft Office 2003 :^)

For co-op, have been using Woof 7.0.0 and now it's at Woof 10.0.3. This is kinda different from DSDA-Doom because older Woof has a lot of broken stuff, therefore the update. Also, really appreciate fabian and rfomin took quite some feedback from me and 4shock and put them in. Although I didn't actually contribute anything to the port, it's good to see it growing :)

You can chalk this inconsistency up to heat exhaustion :P

19.7 on this laptop, 18.0 on my old laptop. I have 24.3 downloaded, tried it for the quick-start cache, but it wasn't useful to me so.... sticking with what I use most. Since I almost exclusively run CL 2 now I don't need to update for MBF21.
