Vanilla teleport ambush - multiple targets sharing a tag?

smeghammer

Question

So, in Eureka, I am making a small vanilla arena... I want to have a monster closet spawn monsters in multiple, but specified, teleport targets...

Now, for DiHF (and I assume UDMF), you can simply specify the sector tag in which the gates are and/or give the gates the same TID and use that on the teleport linedef.

However, this seems not to be the way it works in vanilla.

I have a closet that is a disconnected part of a sector in the map, and a door that opens on crossing a given line on the map. This works as intended. However, the teleport line was specified like so:

 - action special: 126 (teleport monsters)

 - tag 1

And in the map, three sectors (NOT the disconnected sector above) tagged with 1 as well, as raised cliffs around the player triggered area. These have many teleport targets within it.

I was expecting that the monsters would randomly teleport into any of the teleport target things but what actually happened was they ALL teleported, one by one, into (I think) the first teleport target thing I added.

Once I removed the specific tag form the line action and the tele things, the monsters DID randomly teleport in.

Can I specify teleport target things like this in vanilla? I want to have several such traps in different parts of the arena.

Teleport things in different sector tags are the only way. It'll always pick the first for that skill as you noticed. The joys of vanilla mapping eh!
