Mr Masker Posted July 23, 2022 Hello, Not all of us can make video games, not all of us want to make video games. Not all video games are even possible due to stupid, dumb REALITY. Think of a game you've wanted to see be made, or that you want to make, that can't be done currently. You can go as in-depth as you want, and use as many IP's as you want. Maybe you want to revive a dead franchise in a new modern lens, or make something entirely new. Idk if this thread will go anywhere but we shall see. 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
Mr. Freeze Posted July 23, 2022 What I thought couldn't be made years ago...is now the game I'm trying to make so jokes on me! Uhhhh...a new Gauntlet game? I'd like to see that. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

MrFlibble Posted July 23, 2022 Just earlier today, I was thinking about a cancelled Norse mythology-themed versus fighting game from 1996 called Valhalla. A playable beta demo has been preserved, and there is a possibility that the data file contains not just the demo characters but maybe stuff that was intended for the full version that never came about. I thought that at least decoding the data formats would be great -- if there's indeed more assets than shown in the beta, that could open up the possibility to recreate the whole thing using MUGEN or whatever. And perhaps someone knowledgeable could go as far as to try reverse-engineering the binary executable. But the reality is, I've not got the skills and knowledge even to analyse the data file, and the game is so obscure, no one will likely ever want to spend time on that. If you're interested, some screenshots are preserved via the Wayback Machine here at the bottom of the page. The game had an interesting art style and the demo plays rather well, albeit it's buggy. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Jaccident Posted July 23, 2022 Doom meets hyperbolica, the number of headaches trying to code that would cause would be insane. I’d love to be anywhere near good enough at programming to make something like it, but I’m certainly not there yet. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

TheMagicMushroomMan Posted July 23, 2022 (edited) Two remakes of Symphony of the Night: one in 3D (I actually liked the PS2 Castlevania games, but they needed more visual variety) and one that's exactly like the original but with modern artwork that retains the original style as much as possible (mainly so I can play it in something other than 4:3 for a change). I'd also like a remake of Medievil that doesn't suck, a remake of Medievil 2, or a new game in the series. Remakes of every Dragon Quest using the DQXI engine. Ultra-realistic remake of Irritating Stick. Banjo Kazooie 3. New Conker game. A fighting game with old point-and-click characters (Leisure Suit Larry vs. Sam and Max). A new GTA with a drug dealing minigame, except the drugs are replaced with Shark Cards. A remake of DOOM and DOOM 2 so there won't be any more threads about it. A new Hexen and Heretic. A new Madden game with fully automatic weapons. LSD: Dream Emulator 2. A new Burger King game that awards real life coupons (not joking, I think a concept like this is possible). Oh, and Bloodborne 2. I think I could make that. All I need is a couple weeks of learning Unity and it'll blow the original out of the water. DannyMan Posted July 23, 2022 I thought about making a game about a fictional civil war in Mexico that takes place during early 2010s, you would fight against the rebels or terrorists (not the sicarios from drug cartels) as a Mexican soldier. You would progress to every Mexican state (probably starting from Baja California to Yucatan or Chiapas). The game length would be possibly long. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
pyborg Posted July 23, 2022 A Super Smash Bros type game, except it's a FPS with various FPS characters (Doomguy, Duke Nukem, Serious Sam, etc.). 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Nikku4211 Posted July 23, 2022 (edited) I wanted to make a visual novel for the SNES that takes place in the Bronx and has turn-based battles on a flat mode 7 plane, but I'm bad at writing code and I'm bad at writing. Plus I'm bad at drawing lol. It could've looked something like this: Spoiler I'm not a very patient person, plus my time is constantly getting taken away by various things that mess up my motivation too. SilentD00mer Posted July 23, 2022 Well, FPS is my favorite genre, so I'd like to make a FPS, but I'm not that creative to make something new... Or maybe a game with the perspective of a FPS, but focused on adventure... Again, not an original idea... 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Lippeth Posted July 24, 2022 (edited) I'm sure it can be made, just not by me, and even if it were to be made, it would never sell. A modern single player Hexen or Heretic styled game, not as abstract as Amid Evil or as unpolished as Graven. Something with the more "realistic" weapons like hammers, axes, maces and crossbows with no-nonsense visceral combat and cryptic level design. No upgrade trees, collectibles, objective icons, open worlds, or arduous front loaded cut-scenes with exposition and lore. The closest thing I played like this was Hellraid, an expansion for Dying Light which was really fun, but it's very short and I can only play it so many times before wanting more levels and just more in general. A medieval dark fantasy with atmospheric levels and brutal monsters. Almost like a first person Dark Souls but without the emphasis on stats and rpg mechanics. Anyway, that was fun to think about. gabirupee Posted July 24, 2022 (edited) I really like thinking of game ideas while doing nothing, and there some that stayed for too long on my head and i need to put my favorite one here in words: A hotline-miami like game vehicle based, that takes place into south korea 2000-2003 with multiple's characters and each one of them having interesting backstories and having a different carrer (Police officer, gang leader/member, delivery-man, street-racer etc.) Everthing in random cronology with all the stories being interconnected and each one of the characters with they ability's and goal's depending on they carrers (Murder people, rob a car, neutralize robbers, win a race etc.) But every story have a twist.. [ Exactly like hotline miami 2 my favorite game :D ], Also all the moments based around the vehicle mechanic with parts that the player/character can go out of the vehicle. And obviously a kickass soundtrack based into phonk, synthwave and even a bit of trap, visually a 2d game with a simple but beatiful pixel art containing pastel tones all over the place. The main character will be a detective that needs to judge one of all the character's who is the guilty for carrying out a homicide in a street, steeping headlong in their past's and collecting evidences of each one to on the end come to a conclusion who is the culprit (Whoever you choose guilty the game will have a different ending, with it having multiple endings due to the high quantity of characters) Soundtrack example: I know it sounds crazy, but my mind is made that way :P Edited July 24, 2022 by gabirupee 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
UnknDoomer Posted July 24, 2022 (edited) In the old days, when the open world was not yet common in games, I often thought about the lack of this component. Then it seemed that it could multiply improve the gameplay to another standart. We have some of this today, but as all of your know that experience might be pretty mediocre sometimes, not how I've looked on this before actually. Another thing was marks I've made time to time regarding to proceed some possible indie titles for PC. Most of the concepts were inspired by old DOS arcade games and some unsual / abstract ideas. I never was a major "clean" programming to make it myself, using any kind of casual like engines never was an option, as well as haven't enough motivation for it, but some contacts that in theory might join on board are still exist around. In that case usual question rise - money and other priorities when you are not ready to spend few years to make some titles which probably not many will care about. At end point the only finished small concept was https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.netgon.dicegon that never leaved Android only platform. One more idea was stick to make a campaign for old (1995) turn-based title. About ten years ago started it in early stage, but never gone far. There is new interface for it available now, so it slightly increase chances that one day I'll back to it, but there plenty of other things around at the moment. Hawk of The Crystals Posted July 24, 2022 (edited) An actual rpg with roleplaying--something that modern rpgs don't have for some reason--that's made by people who weren't raised on jrpgs for once. Oh! And also no half-assed attempts at "muh themes", or garbage attempts at "muh allegories". Another game: A reboot of an old fps that doesn't have a terrible story tacked on that tries way to hard to make the player care. maxmanium Posted July 24, 2022 I don't really have a good way to describe it, but I've always wanted a game that was how I originally imagined Minecraft to be like when I first heard about it back in 5th grade (2010), before seeing any YouTube videos about it. I guess it would kind of be like classic Runescape but with a free camera and not isometric -- and not blocky. Not sure how I missed that the game was made of blocks, I thought it was semi-realistic geometry. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

TheFocus Posted July 24, 2022 my dream game would be an Avengers: Infinity War style crossover of every single 90's and early 00's FPS protagonist. there would be a character select screen at the start (Mortal Kombat style), levels would be designed based on who you picked (for example, wide open spaces for Serious Sam, traditional style levels for Master Chief). there would be 6 person online co-op. for actual competitive multiplayer, maybe a hero shooter type deathmatch mode (Overwatch style) with every character featured in game. it would basically market itself, but i have no idea what you would call it. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
