Ozcar Posted July 28, 2022 Sonic robo blast 2 Jk Btsx imo is the best vanilla wad of doom. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

out_of_service Posted July 29, 2022 The Wasteland series by Alberto Barsella - Dead Base/Mountain of Fire/Sands of Death from the early 90's era. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
WARDUST Posted July 30, 2022 Concern. It make me feels again same sensations like with ultimate doom... but more intens 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
BigBoy91 Posted July 30, 2022 My fondest memories are with Scythe. It rekindled my love for vanilla Doom back in 2018. At first, I played it with Brutal Doom, then I used the Bolognese Gore Mod, and then I signed up here, switched to PrBoom+ and never really went back. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
retrogamer97 Posted July 30, 2022 Hellbound is probably one of the best megawads without using new assets, very good map design. Jenesis was also great. I try to avoid slaughter wads. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Sonikkumania Posted July 31, 2022 MARSWAR.wad is the one that's sealed in my memory the most for some reason. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
SuyaSSS Posted July 31, 2022 Scythe is the biggest mapping inspiration for me 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
EPICALLL Posted October 31, 2022 I haven't played many WADs, but Going Down is probably my favourite at the moment. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Fluuschoen Posted October 31, 2022 (edited) DBP37: AUGER;ZENITH The quintessential cyberpunk WAD, with heavy late '80s/early '90s Japanese vibes and a lot of other references (Blade Runner, The Matrix etc.). 21+1 levels, the atmosphere is through the roof, and it's almost mind-boggling, that it's limit-removing only (complevel 2). I mean, there're maps with RAIN, interactive DoomCutes, destructible pillars, you name it. If you haven't played it yet, you owe it to yourself, it's truly a masterpiece. I can't understand how it ended up being only a runner-up for Cacoward 2021. MtPain27 did a video on it, if you're interested. Codename_Delta Posted October 31, 2022 (edited) I haven't beaten enough megaWADs to really know, Scythe is really good shit so far, despite the seemingly non-existent ssg. (Mid-way through map 11) Edited October 31, 2022 by Codename_Delta 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
TARDIS32 Posted November 1, 2022 Of the ones I've played, Ancient Aliens, Valiant, Going Down, Eviternity, and Struggle: Antaresian Legacy are all kinda fighting for that top spot. Honorable mentions to Heartland, Auger Zenith, Scythe II, Tangerine Nightmare, and Speed of Doom. I like Doom 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Optimus Posted November 1, 2022 Too many to list, very common question thread that must have opened many times already, but I always include Alien Vendetta in that. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Thx for the recommendation... I wasn't even aware these existed! I don't have a favorite wad. For a long time, I loved Alien Vendetta and the ZDaemon CTF Map Packs. It's half of what I played around 2004-2008. As time goes on, however, I've learned there's too much variety and fun among community maps to really have a favorite. Yo aprecio ver español aquí, pero mi español es muy malo y necesito practicar mucho más jaja Pero en inglés, I am kind of a scrub doomer and I am not up to the challenge of some of the big name ones that have come out lately. Scythe is pretty much the megawad I have the most appreciation for 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Xeebleton Posted November 2, 2022 Bourgeois Deathmatch is really fun. super challenging, and great for deathmatch too! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Devalaous Posted November 3, 2022 For Doom 1, No End in Sight, with honourable mentions to END1 and END2, and a little known episode replacement I found caled '5th Project of Doom', which I loved to death back on Doom 95 For Doom 2, TNT Evilution is my most played Doom 2 content, and I'd say my other favourites are actually The Master Levels, and all the other works from its authors, MINUS Tim Willits; I view his content as trash. Jim Flynn and Sverre Kvernmo in particular were my favourites. Big shout out to ALT too, its rare that I finish a modern megawad and enjoy it. The fourth entry was found and rescued from death in the 'lost wads' thread, if youve never played the final entry. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Toastd Posted November 3, 2022 Currently going through Sunlust on HMP (just going into 26) and it's definitely a contender for the top spot. The combat and area design is just next-level, and each level has just an incredible atmosphere. It's a very stiff challenge even on HMP, definitely tougher than most megawads I've played on UV, but I haven't regretted grinding through it one bit so far. That might change in the last few maps though, heh. As for wads I've completed - it's a normie pick, but Eviternity. I like the slightly more relaxed but still challenging pace of the gameplay. Exploring the larger maps is also really fun. Anagnorisis is a work of art. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

ReaperAA Posted November 3, 2022 Heartland, Ancient Aliens, Valiant, Eviternity, Going Down, 1000 Lines 3 CP. These are what come to my mind as my immediate favorites. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
ZethXM Posted November 3, 2022 Lilith, followed by Going Down AUGER;ZENITH and Heartland 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
HeatedChocolate Posted November 3, 2022 Ashes (Both 2063 and Afterglow, DMW too), TrenchFoot, Iron Assault and AUGER;ZENITH. I've a particular soft spot for the works of Eternal and Lutz, most notably Frozen Time by Eternal alongside P:AR and Corrupted Cistern by Lutz. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
PeterMoro Posted November 3, 2022 JP LeBreton's Arcadia Demade is probably the best Pwad I've ever played. There are so many good ones, special in their own way. It's hard to choose just one. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
