does anyone have any examples of upbeat sounding music that works well for doom?

Map 4 of Alien Vendetta has a bangin' dance track that is a bit out of step with most Doom music, but it has an addictive energy that adds a lot to the level.

Also any map that uses Rise of the Triad music, particularly Goin' Down the Fast Way, tends to get bonus credit from me.  Recently played thru map 15 of Valiant for the first time and between the music and the shit-grin-provoking combat, it quickly became one of my new favorite maps.

If I've parsed this correctly, you want upbeat tunes that fit maps which one could mistake for maps from Doom or Doom 2 at first glance, that is, not necessarily the kind of upbeat music you'd hear in Back to Saturn X, Valiant, or Tarnsman's Projectile Hell. I think a lot of the "less Doom-y" music that appears in modern wads would fit more "vanilla" wads just fine, but if that's true, then it's on me to find that music and put it into Shareware Doom-themed wads of my own.

The IWADs have a lot of upbeat music to begin with. "At Doom's Gate" and "I Sawed the Demons" stand out, but "Kitchen Ace (And Taking Names)", "On the Hunt", "Hiding the Secrets", the untitled theme to E3M1, "Facing the Spider", and even "Nobody Told Me About Id" or "Deep Into the Code" fit the bill, and that's not including DOOM2.WAD at all. But it's a punt to say "To fit the IWADs, use music from the IWADs."

+1 to Rise of the Triad music, which is always great to hear, and which immediately recalls Hell Revealed to a Doom-literate audience.

Upbeat '90s alt-rock of any kind fits great, as in Down the Drain's use of MIDI covers of Nirvana and Radiohead tunes.

I dunno what you mean by "mainly, map packs that if you see for a short amount of time", but a good example of an upbeat music in Doom is the Plutonia MIDI pack's Blood Rush music, which plays in Map 12.

"It's my Doom-mapping sleepover and I GET to choose the music!"

Are you curious or you don't know what music to choose by yourself?

I first heard this midi from BILBO11.WAD sometime during the early nineties. It's a tune that's been stuck with me ever since lol.
