Master Levels For Doom II (CD-Rom and Poster)

I just wanted to show you a few pictures of my original US big box.

Poster headline:

"There ist life after death, unfortunately!"

 

This big box somehow stands out from the other boxes with its really successful artwork.

 

The grey drawing is the same drawing that was used as the background graphic for the Doom I Big Box backside. There, however, it was coloured to red.

 

Although posters don't make much sense in these boxes when folded into 12 pages.

This is really nice. I dont think I have ever owned a physical copy of any Doom releases. Back in the day it was handouts from friends and then I purchased them for download.

I also have my Master Levels box and CD, the poster is somewhere. I have however merged all the master levels into a megawad on my own PC so I can play them in the same wad, etc. The first 13 maps are in PSX Final Doom order, Express elevator is MAP15, Mephisto is MAP20. Bad Dream is MAP31.

So im guessing that 'nudity/sex' thing means they WERE aware of the porn wads in Maximum Doom?

No, the "Nudity/Sex" thing is just an option on a card that comes with the box and explains the different terms that warn the potential buyer: "Violence", "Nudity/Sex" or "Language".

 

In the case of this product/box, it is about "Violence", as seen on the sticker of the box at the bottom right.

There is at least one wad on Maximum Doom that has porn textures on the walls, 'Phrag 21A' for Doom 1. I've only done a deep dive on the much smaller Doom 1 side, but yes, Maximum Doom, and thus the original Master Levels release itself, shipped porn on the disc. Ive always wondered if id knew it was there, or whether the 'collection' was THAT lazy that they accidentally included porn.

I realy don't know what this wad file has to do with this box art ... ? The master levels where made for DooM 2 only afaik. This box looks like made for DooM 2 imho and there was only content for DooM 2 on those discs and not for DooM. Those boxes are rare nowadays.

The 'nudity' thing in the first pic I assumed to be something that came with the box itself, and if it DID, it would have solved my question of whether id knowingly shipped porn on the disc, the disc that is inside that box and pictured. That wad is on that disc, in the Maximum Doom section, which does have Doom 1 wads. And now a whole bunch more people know there is R18 content in every *single* Master Levels disc.
