Arsinikk Posted August 8, 2022 (edited) This is just a simple page where that I could link to that showed all the Doom works I have created and / or contributed to. If you would like to know more about my other endeavours, check out my personal website. The following highlight how I've pushed the Doom Engine with my maps: Spoiler Vanilla Conveyors - I have made many maps that make use of Vanilla Conveyors. Purple Rain is a great example of how to use Conveyors in Vanilla to enact scripting sequences. I continue to use this technique to a slightly lesser extent in 100 Line Massacre, SLOTTER, Boxcutter E1, and 200 Line Massacre. Looping Vanilla Conveyor - In MAP23 of 200 Line Massacre (also MAP04 of SLOTTER), I've created a forever looping conveyor in Vanilla by using DehackEd to create an infinite exploding barrel object to constantly push a voodoo doll over repeatable linedefs. In this map, it was to create a simple light sequence. The beginning of the map gives the player an Invulnerability to hide the damage given from the infinite exploding barrel. Because of a Vanilla quirk, after a minute or two, the infinite exploding barrel stops hurting the voodoo doll, allowing for a forever looping conveyor. Pushing the limits of VPO - In a lot of my Vanilla maps, I tend to push for as much detail as possible without resulting in a Vanilla visplane overflow crash. There are many examples of this in my maps, with Purple Rain having complex level transformations with a sinking circle arena that is 1-2 planes from VPO. Other examples include the MAP07 arena from Boxcutter E1, and many of the areas in my Jamal Jones E3 map Technobabel (MAP16). Pushing the limits of Boom mapping - Meant as a showcase for Boom features (MBF21 only from DehackEd), Hellcinerator includes 600+ voodoo dolls, and sections of the map that have 100+ sectors moving at once. At a certain point, 100+ sectors have their sky change at once. Discord (Arsinikk's Slotter Sanctum) - https://discord.gg/aXtCVYw83k This is the Slotter Sanctum Community Discord, where you can see the status of certain community projects and ask Doom mapping questions, etc. Twitch - https://www.twitch.tv/arsinikkdm I stream Doom WADs every Tuesday and Thursday at 9pm CST each week. I play everything from 90s WADs to more recent WADs, even sometimes play WADs in "WADs and Mods" subforum on Doomworld. My style of streaming consists of me playing Doom (obviously), interacting with chat, and heavily critiquing maps as I play. I've played hundreds of WADs (old and new) in a span of 10+ years, so I think I have a good idea of what makes a good Doom map. YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGYSR_BmfkcwS2_FP1iE1Tw Where I post Midi Compositions and WAD Trailers. Occasionally upload Doom Walkthroughs / Commentaries Planning on recording more Doom Mapping Tutorials (if I can find the time :O) GitHub - https://github.com/andrikpowell I'm quite active working with source port developers to fix certain bugs and/or add features to existing ports. Worked with source port devs to get both Wall and Flat animations to be synced the same way as Vanilla does. Currently been testing and helping Brad Harding (Doom Retro) to get his source port as close to Vanilla compatible as possible. Got Graf Zahl to add a Vanilla donut behaviour compatibility option in dev version of GZDoom. (via compat_floormove) Suggested a sky scroll addition to UMAPINFO (from DMAPINFO) to rfomin. Edited May 25 by Arsinikk Added Unity Port Guide. Separated WAD and forum contributions. 32 Quote Share this post Link to post

Arsinikk Posted August 12, 2022 So, I'd like to clear up some misconceptions I've recently come across. Apparently, this post and some of my other map posts have lead to people being intimidated by me and my work, with the presentation of some of my posts seemingly being self-indulgent. This was not my intention at all. IRL I am a graphic designer and a musician/vocalist, and so I like to layout my posts in a certain way for easy readability and, well, to make them look nice in presentation as well. I'm honestly just a really chill dude that just really likes playing and mapping for Doom. In response to, well, not wanted to like a self-important asshole, I've removed my personal IRL stuff from this post. If you really wanna know more about that, you can visit my bio on Doomworld instead. The reason for this post was honestly just to have a single place to put all my work. The WADs and Mods thread moves rather quick, and once your thread is pushed past the first page, the less likely people will find your post. I would lying if I didn't take a certain amount of pride in my work, but I honestly don't think my work is necessarily better than a majority of other mappers or anything like that. I just wanted to share my love for Doom in a more convenient way. I hope this can somewhat clear up some misunderstandings. I just wanna get along with everyone in this amazing creative community. Thank you, Arsinikk 6 Quote Share this post Link to post
ImproversGaming Posted August 13, 2022 Really nice idea, thanks for sharing! I like the doom portfolio presentation and seeing all you have created in a neat post. Thanks. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
OpenRift Posted November 7, 2022 Damn, I shoulda thought of this. Though I guess my portfolio isn't as impressive. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Doomkid Posted November 7, 2022 You should still do a similar portfolio anyway, it's fairly common. Doomshack.org started out as basically being a wad portfolio for me, before it branched into wad hosting and server hosting shortly after. 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
Arsinikk Posted November 7, 2022 (edited) @OpenRift Tbh the only reason this exists is cuz I don't currently have a DoomWiki page. I just wanted an easy way for people to find my projects. :) Though recently I've been thinking of setting up some kind of site to better showcase my WADs. I was also thinking of setting up an archive full of all the midis I've composed and will compose in the future, for any mapper to freely use in their wads. I'm a big proponent of giving the community resources that they can use in their wads. Edited November 7, 2022 by Arsinikk 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
