[Doom 2] Heaven Stroll , a single vanilla map by me

It was supposed to be an episode of 7 maps but I was busy with other things and lost the desire to continue in the meantime.

I remember to have seen this at the Doom Pictures thread! Looks really neat, it's pretty neat see that sky (from FOREST originally) used for such modern map!

Thanks for your video ! After watching it , some thoughts :

 

- This level was designed without SSG but I think I will eventually add one. Some encounters felt too grindy with the shotgun.

- I think I will lower a bit the difficulty of the tougher fights, maybe by adding health or rockets.

- This level wasn't designed for jumping, it's a vanilla map.

This was a really fun map!  I wasn't sure what to expect, because I thought maybe this was based on a real bungalow or something, and sometimes those don't turn out well.  But obviously you're a very skilled mapper because you made a realistic feeling location actually very fun from a gameplay perspective.  The doomcute and the way you constructed stuff like a roof made of Icon of Sin textures was really nice to look at.  Some nice spicy challenges in there too.  Excellent work!

Thanks for your video, Icon of Sin textures are sometimes really underated hehe.

V2 is here !

 

- I added few SSG in the map in order to speed up the process

- Added new SSG sounds coming from Pandora project led by GIBBON

- Removed few monsters which were a bit too much for me.

- some minor texture fixes.

Excellent map!!

I love the texture usage and the architecture, this must be dangerously close to breaking the seg and visplane limits, haha.

If you change your mind and make this an episode, you'll win this year's Uncle awards, no question! :D

Yes, keeping the vanilla limits was.... painful. I hope I did not forget VPO. I'm not sure I have the energy to do a whole episode, but it won't be my last map with doomcute in it, I guarantee it.
