GZDoom 4.6.0, how do I load two WADs at the same time?

Recommended Posts

So I finally got some time to play another WAD, and as a big fan of Blade Runner I chose AUGER;ZENITH. However, there are two WADs: one containing the levels, monsters, weapons etc; and another one that replaces the default pistol sound effect with a HQ sound effect of Rick Deckard's gun from Blade Runner.

When I run a WAD, I'm not giving any options beyond which basic IWAD to use (I just use Plutonia, usually) and some choices like fullscreen, OpenGL, etc...

Any ideas, anyone? I think I ran into the same problem when I tried to play Back to Saturn X, which was also on two different WADs.

That... actually worked! Wow, I spent so much time trying to select them both, then right-click and "Run", but that never worked. This solution was so simple, I never thought of it. Thanks, you're a lifesaver.

No problem! The only thing with that is that sometimes some wads need a specific load order and I'm not sure that selecting them this way is enough in such cases. But in your case drag'n'drop is enough because load order doesn't matter.

There are also some launcher programs out there you could use for these things but I don't use them so I don't know which specific I would recommend.

This programs really useful ZDL, it's a really simple easy to use launcher. There are a few other launchers around too, but if you want to keep things simple ZDL is great, especially if you want to start adding mods into the mix, load order is very important.

You should read @Doomkids pinned thread, New to classic Doom, that should help you out a lot.

If you're a little more tech savvy you can use the PowerShell to launch the game like this

Quote

gzdoom -file wad1.wad wad2.wad

If you don't want to do it like this dragging and dropping the files onto GZDoom will be more than enough

Where is that image that said "before making a thread about something you want to know use the search feature to see if anyone asked the exact same thing as you" ?
