Grouping sectors without joining them?

Zirbiss

Question

Hey,
Can you group sectors when mapping without joining them? I don't want to join sectors as that also makes them all share the same attributes. I would like to be able to select a large number of sectors at once to edit them all, without having to click each one individually every time.

Using UDB, latest version.

You can use Assign Group/Clear Group/Select Group for this kind of stuff.  Tools > Preferences > Controls > Selecting.  Manually select the sectors you want grouped and hit the key for Assign Group 1 (or whatever number).  You may need to assign keys to the Select Group options.  Creating a Group 1 and then hitting 1 won't select it by default because (I think) the select buttons aren't bound out of the box.

If it's just a few sectors that are near each other then trying paint selection might be faster.  I have mine bound to middle mouse but I dunno if that's the default.  You can just hold down the button and grab what you want.

I assume that you want to give all of your group at least ONE shared attribute, correct? You can do that, certainly, just click them all, go to properties, and edit the property you want while leaving the rest untouched.
