DSDA Doom: When lowering the music volume the sound effects volume also gets lowered

Well, the problem is in the title. When I lower the sound volume of the music for example at 0 but keep the effects sound volume at 15 I the de facto sound volume of the sound effects is also non existent: I can't hear anything.

I'm not at home to check, but this used to happened to me. I think it was something related to using SDL, instead of FluidSynth or Portmidi. Try changing to FS or PM.

I remember this used to happen to me too, but now I use VirtualMIDISynth, it's an external midi program so this doesn't happen to me now.

Correct. This occurs anytime SDL_Mixer is used to playback midi on Windows Vista and up. Affects all of the SDL ports that don't offer other midi synth options. This has been an issue with SDL_Mixer for over a decade so I'm not sure it will ever be fixed.
