Slade 3 broke my entire mod and deleted it's folders

Question

Today I was working on my pk3 mod, it had tons of stuff but suddenly slade 3 crashed while exiting the program and it corrupted the whole mod and so the backup file. I don't know what to do now, I tried repairing it with WinRAR and it worked out but every texture was corrupted, every sound and every script. Slade 3 deleted 5 folders that contained scripts and sprites and everything, everything got deleted, im fucking sad because i was working on it everyday for 11 hours straight and a one program just broke the most important thing in my life, I have tears in my eyes. I lost everything. Nothing seems to help me, I can only rebuild it from scratch but the making of the mod itself took me 6 months, and I don't want to waste another 6 months of my life only for the same thing to possibly happen. What can I do? I'm literally depressed over a piece of files but that was the most important thing, the only thing i cared about... Slade 3 can't even open the mod files, it shows blank, everything is corrupted, EVERYTHING. Please how can i recover all the progress!!?

Here I post the file download link... Maybe someone can repair it.

You've just learned the hard way the lesson of making manual backups of your files in completely different directories and or drives. I wish I could help but if you only have the one file it ain't looking good.

I'm very confused, as all the sprites and stuff still seem to be in your rebuilt PK3. Yes, the BEHAVIOR lumps are hosed (unless they were intended to be 0 bytes), and the maps seem to have missing textures, but this does not seem to be a catastrophic failure. The texture definitions are still in the TEXTMAP, for example.

But yes, this is also why you have a copy of the stuff elsewhere and THEN build a PK3 out of it, rather than work directly in the PK3 itself, just in case.

This would be a trivial fix if you have those files still somewhere, even if they're loose files. But if those were your one and only copies of them, there's nothing you can do except to remake them. Rebuilding the PK3 isn't going to solve anything, because it can only restore what it had enough information for, and from what it sounds like, there wasn't enough for it to properly do them.

(A PK7 might be able to have a recovery archive added to it... but it's also less friendly to use, and consumes more memory.)

Sorry to hear man, that's terrible. But one thing you ALWAYS should do is make backups, backups and backups. ALWAYS. And I know this feeling very well from the past but I learned from that and if something crashes I roughly lose maybe a couple of hours of work.

May want to use deep recovery software in the pk3 directory. I used to use Recuva, but nowadays it's full of adware and spyware, not even sure about malware, but it has slowed down my OS a couple of times.

Other than that, basic rules I use for creative works, documentation and other similar things:

Save after every step.

Backup to seperate storage medium every day, with unstable programs(Slade), every time before and after closing.

Don'r worry, the first one always hits the hardest.
