Why doom for playstation 1 sounds like doom 64?

I always wondered why does doom for playstation sounds like doom 64? for me was really odd to play doom for playstation and hear the 64 sounds

Because both games were made by the same team and in a similar engine.

This. Doom 64 sounds like PlayStation. Not other way around!

Doom 64 is basically a sequel to the PSX Doom games so that is why they have so many similar features. Some people say Doom 64 is the real Doom 3 and the game is definitely the third game in Wiliams/Midway branch of Doom games.
