ginc Posted October 24, 2022 (edited) Sorry about missing September's Ironman, between real life stuff and a mapping sprint it just slipped away from me. For this month, I'm on Category 1 and survived in 28:26. Spoiler Nice little jaunt, and it wouldn't be a Xaser map without pointy ass sectors everywhere. The danger came in 2 parts: 1. Finding my bearings at the start 2. The red room - really love this fight. I can see people dying to this one if they're not careful or low on health, but I handled it pretty well. I also spent like 10 minutes trying to find how to get to the blue key, and the final platforming bit took a few tries. Video here, 720p60 probably ready in a few hours. Horus Posted October 24, 2022 Category 1, 185/243 kills To have survived a very early scare, recover, only to then veer directly in the path of a cyber rocket is...disappointing :( ironman_horus_st.zip 3 Quote Share this post Link to post

4shockblast Posted October 27, 2022 All about finding the right progression fast. :^) 17:35 Under a minute completion included. Shame I didn't try this in the run. :D xa-sharp_Ironman_shock.zip 7 Quote Share this post Link to post
NaZa Posted October 30, 2022 (edited) The end of the month is near and our regular Team M, @Maribo, @mhrz and @Master Medi, seems to have left it late again... among others (Vince, head_cannon...)! Also keenly awaiting @ClumsyCryptid's run :) Still 48 hours to get the runs in - the floodgates still wide open! Edited October 30, 2022 by NaZa 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
Vince Vega Posted October 30, 2022 Cat I, survived in 35:22. Not that sharp if you're not overthinking stuff :P In the starting room, I was like "oh okay close quarters, oh okay super-constrained stuff with only a fistful of ammo, oh those doors have always been accessible and there's a whole outdoor yard with ammo everywhere... <_<". I even left two soulspheres untouched, so've got +200 unused health huh. Re my absence: I suddenly recalled I adore Build games, so starting autumn have been (re)playing all DN3D stuff I was able to find. After that _real_ 3D with jumps and high vertical axis usage in general, freelook with no stupid autoaim, interactivity, you're just... "Doom? Ah, I recall something, some sort of Tetris or Sea Battle or so". So basically two months of "no I won't play this again, ah wait I have to submit a DWI entry... no I won't play this again, ah wait I ha...". I dunno if this sudden inversion is okay, but it is how it is for now. I even consider sometimes starting doing some really sinister stuff which I couldn't even think of for the last 9 years already -- playing Doom with freelook and no autoaim :D dvvsharp.zip 3 Quote Share this post Link to post

I did mine at the start of the month, died in like.... 20 kills, procrastinated posting it, and lost the demo after I restructured my DSDA folders. It was a pretty terrible run anyway, but yeah, sorry :( 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
head_cannon Posted November 1, 2022 IronmanSharpThingsHC.zip Category 1, Survived in 1:10:33 It took me forever to puzzle out how to get to the yellow key. Still a lot of fun overall. The opening outdoor battle was really interesting with how the pressure from the monsters + the need for more resources can send the player scrambling, and the red key palace was terrifying. Cool stuff. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
NaZa Posted November 5, 2022 (edited) Leaderboard updated! Even though @Anima Zero was heading to a maiden victory, a late @Bdubzzz run caused an upset and he duly won, the second month in a row. As exciting as always! Anima still managed to climb to 3rd in the standings, but that'll be a separate post. Noteworthy run by the rest of the survivors, particularly @head_cannon for a first-time survival, but also @NoisyVelvet for their first survival 41 attempts after their last one!! (Three and a half years! Mad stuff. Anima's survival was also their first after over a year and a half. Guess this is the veterans striking back :D) Congrats everyone, and to those who didn't get a run in yet, good luck with @dt_'s challenge this month!
