If you are too young to have played Doom when it was released, and your dad/mum/brother didn't play it, how did you get into Doom?

Rented doom 2016 from a redbox (if you people have never heard of it a kiosk that had movies and games that you could rent for a day for like 1-3.50)

Liked it, asked to get it for Christmas and got it, beat it and heard something about how it was based on the old doom games so I picked them up and played those
