bunker [ NOW ON IDGAMES ]

Recommended Posts

This is short atmospheric doom map that i made in my spare time.

this map was basically just a bunch of ideas thrown at a wall, but I think it went well enough

-It consists of 1 maps in the format of gzdoom UDMF , primarily tested in GZdoom and Zdoom

man... this is some good shit

anyway here's some review

  • GOOD: some truly memorable sequence, the music really add up to the atmosphere, it's pretty creepy sometime, like the long stair way, the broken Entryway sequence, this is the only time i'll not complain about texture alignment. Combat is also not too shabby, it's not that explosive of a fight but not boring either.
  • BAD: some part was a bit plain in terms of light, i know some were probably intended for the story but I still want to bug about it sorry
  • UGLY: I have nothing for here

Sentence: I hope I can sleep tonight

Grade:

  • With My First MapTM Standard: A++
  • With Modern Map Standard: B+
  • With Rose-Tinted Glasses Standard: B

man, I should go fetch some tea

That's an interesting concept.
There are several zones where you can get soft block.
I  like the vibe but my main problem it's that it's mostly empty.

That was really trippy, atmospheric and a little bit unnerving at points. Not seen anything quite like that before. Very cool concept!

Some very nice level design tricks in here.

The downsides are that it felt a bit like a slog at times, and I got a bit ammo-starved towards the end. I could have used more signposting at the start to know that the bunker is behind you, the blue sky felt kind of bland during the second section (but only the second section), and the

got kind of tedious either because it was too long or I just couldn't see the goal from the start.

But those are all kind of minor overall, I liked the thing as a whole. Like I said you showed off some really neat tricks that kept me guessing what I'd see next. Well done!

This was super cool! Played this back-to-back with "The Thing You Can't Defeat" and they make kind of a nice double feature. I'm extra-partial to spooky MIDIs too and this delivered. Nice work on the atmosphere and the tricks to mess with memory and expectations.

oh god, why'd you put such a faraway shrine that didn't even have anything....nah, this was good! Always hate to wake up, take a walk, and find yourself in hell!
