Wayfy Posted October 18, 2022 (edited) I recently got into putting custom textures into my wads with Slade, yet all the waterfalls/moving textures/liquid flats seem to not be animated. What could be the cause of this and how can i fix it? any help would be appreciated. Edited October 18, 2022 by Wayfy 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted October 18, 2022 Target port? GZDoom, Boom, vanilla? Modifying vanilla animations or creating new ones? If new ones, ANIMATED or ANIMDEFS? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
ViolentBeetle Posted October 18, 2022 How would the game know they are supposed to be animated? You'll need to tell it. Original Doom has hardcoded first and last frame and cycles anything between the two, notably WFALL1-4 are supported but not present in DOOM2.WAD Boom supports custom animated tables. I think SLADE3 lets you import the one that covers original game to make it work and then expand. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Wayfy Posted October 18, 2022 Im using boom, im trying to set up a ANIMDEFS Lump but im not having much success. Im modyfing the textures which i imported. Theyre normal waterfall textures, just recolored. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Wayfy Posted October 18, 2022 Then how can i make a texture animated? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted October 18, 2022 With ANIMATED (not ANIMDEFS). That's the Boom-compatible feature. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

SLADE can generate an ANIMATED lump you can edit. You have to create a new entry, and in the New Entry window select the Boom ANIMATED Type, like this: It creates a lump that in slade3 looks like this: 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Wayfy Posted October 19, 2022 Yeah That worked, thanks a lot. Never used Slade before so its a learning process. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
