Codename_Delta Posted October 19, 2022 So I listened to the feedback from my last two, and while the progression still needs work, it seems to fit the map it was designed for. LINK: Call Of Hell 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Sonikkumania Posted October 20, 2022 Sorry dude, but to my ears it just sounds like you're playing random notes with random instruments on keyboard. It's not very musical in that sense. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
TheUltimateDoomer666 Posted October 21, 2022 I have to agree with the above post. This does not sound like music at all. It also seems unfinished as there are entire sections of...nothing. I don't know what kind of map it would fit, because it's hard to listen to. I suggest listening to and studying professionally made MIDIs to get a better understanding of how music composition works. There are also online composition tutorials you can follow. You won't get better at music overnight as there is a lot to learn, so the key is to keep practicing. Another suggestion is to try making very short tunes first, rather than longer MIDIs. Try making a short melody, and then try adding accompaniment to it such as bass and drums to get an idea of how harmony and rhythm work. Starting out making short, well-written loops will be easier and better for learning than trying to write longer songs that will inevitably end up as a bunch of random notes. And again, you can reference professional MIDIs to see how composers write rhythms and such. VGMPF and Mirsoft provide many game MIDIs you can view in a sequencer. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Codename_Delta Posted October 21, 2022 yeah, I'll make sure to add some sense of a rhythm for the next one thanks all! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
PsychEyeball Posted October 21, 2022 I have no clue what the purpose of the helicopter sound is in this song. It comes randomly, backed by nothing, and then just randomly stops. Don't expect to hold the listener's attention by just playing a sound effect and nothing else. Otherwise, the main flaw of this song is it doesn't have any hook or anything to remember it by. Even ambient compositions usually settle for some repeating riff or motif to leave a landmark for the listener. Not only your melodies are rather atonal and don't follow any logic or scale, but they also keep changing forever so whoever listener will not know what's happening. Finally, I recommend learning about chords. They will make your sound much fuller. Don't expect your compositions to sound rich if only 1 note plays at any given time. Typically, a song will have a bass line, a melody and a drum sequence all at once, your song never features more than one of these at a time. Either drums play, or that wacky xylophone or the near inaudible choir noise. (Finally finally, I noticed you didn't put any volume or panning settings on any of your channels. You might want to fix that too) 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
