Yeah those photos are new in the github project, the original code release was made in 2014.

I still wonder, if there will be at some point an enhanced 3DO Doom port, like DOOM 32X Resurrection? I mean, the 3DO port with the best performance possible would be neat.

It's amazing how this port was mangled by the incompetence of the studio's boss. I think the failure of the port and whatever consequences brought to his studio were well deserved. But i feel bad for the programmer who got caught in the middle of all this.

But it has not yet reached a good performance, hasn't it? The footage I saw on YouTube showed also not so good performance.

The 3DO processor is much slower compared to other machines (just 12'5 MHz), so it's really hard to extract more performance out of it. And being based on CD media also it's not good, compared to cartridges.

Honestly after seeing those pics, I don't know if I'm glad I've never seen the FMV or really sad I'll never get to witness it. A "damsel in distress" love interest and a Hellknight with underpants/loincloth! They really thought this might be better than the old two paragraphs of text story? I remembering hearing somewhere about the mythical FMVs and the there was a reference to "Hollywood visual effects" looks more like a basement made fan film.

 

Edit : actually pretty sure it was that AVGN episode, where he mentions the FMV, he makes it sound like we missed out.I'm not so sure, the poor old 3DO versions got a bad enough rep as it is.
