I Don't Like Doom Originals

It physically hurts to look at. Am I crazy?

 

Edit: I have albinism so I am extremely sensitive to light, patterns, etc. Bad enough corrective lenses can't give 20/20 vision.

Might just be your personal preference? Do you play any other retro PC or console games? I personally love the look of the OG games, the chunky sprites and pixelated textures are fantastic.

Well, next year original Doom games will be 30 years old. Of course, many things will be aged and might not look good in modern eyes. Still, with new ports it's possible edit game looks and feels much as they don't hurt eyes or make one sick. Many mods and enchantments also can help, no need to stick with pure default play.

I genuinely like how the classic games look far more than the new ones. Not saying the new games look bad they don't, I just love the lo-res slightly abstract look better. Guess younger players might have a problem with sprites over 3d models but it's why Doom had far more enemies than Quake and although both engines have evolved through source ports, it still does.

Probably need more info on how it hurts you physically... Probably your want to play sourceport like Doom Retro that has better support for modern screens (Not only resolution but also gamma and palette corrections)

My friend told me to try gzdoom because he's doing mods, I messed with some of the settings and it seems a lot better so far. Mouselook is kinda weird though.

You don't really need that on unless you're using Gameplay mods or mods that require it.
