What type of dog do you own?

I know it is very random, but what type of dog do you own?

I own a miniature poodle, a mix of a toy poodle and standard poodle. Very cute, and smaller :)

I have four cats, one of which is a cog (cat that thinks that it's a dog).  She's a medium hair all-black one that follows me around and waves her tail around like mad whenever she's excited (we think she grew up around dogs).

I've got a "shepherd mix". At least that's what the shelter called her. I'm sure she's got plenty of short hair Shepherd in her, and the Australian would account for the white, but there's something else in there too. All I know is that I love her smile. And yes, I've posted this picture before.

I think we need more pictures of dogs. Daisy got a nice new argyle sweater today, since the weather took a really nasty turn towards the cold side in the last few days. She seems to like it, and I would say it looks quite fetching on her.

 

 

 

I would've tried to get some better pictures, but she would only "sit" for so long before she started trying to tear it off. But when she's outside she seems to like it.

Those are some very nice looking puppers there. I thought I had seen those dogs before, and I was right. This is from my thread back in July about dogs, that you graciously posted in:

 

I can't imagine how much energy those dogs have. I'm sure losing the fifth wasn't easy, but kudos to you, they're beautiful and they look very well loved.

Close to none actually XD like most hunting breeds, they're rather sluggish unless hunting and spend most of their day sleeping. They're also all between 10-13 yrs now, so energy is rather low.

No, it is not, it is homing missle, who follows you to Mars, Demios, Hell, then back to Earth.

It is tramatised each time you leave it alone for more than half of an hour and makes you abandon ALL dog rules.

On a 1-to-10 scale of friendliness to other lifeforms, where 1 is hostility to everything unknown and 10 is loving attachment to other beings...

It is 42!

He was rescuefrom a dog fighting ring he was used as a bait dog had to be taken to the vet and the vet called State Police on the dog fighting ring.

Wonderful that your Dad did this and the vet is a hero too. People involved in this kind of crap are rabid monsters and were i faced with one only the desire not to go to jail over someone so worthless would stop the situation ending really badly.

This is my greyhound Katie

 

She raced down in Florida before I got her, one of the last before Florida banned racing in 2021. There are currently only two tracks left in the US, so ex-racers are going to be super scarce going forward (if you've seen a greyhound in the US it's probably been an ex-racer; show dogs are a different bloodline and are really rare).

 

Nice to see some other longdogs in the thread. 

 

And yes, sighthounds are incredibly lazy. Greyhounds especially are sprinters, not endurance athletes. When she runs, it's a few minutes of top-tier zooming and that's pretty much it for the day. She probably sleeps 18-20 hours a day if you let her. Greyhounds are super sweet, incredibly quiet & calm (other than zoomie time), and grow very attached to you. They're also extremely stubborn and somewhat independent, since they bred to run after game on their own.

Inbreeding is a huge problem with pugs. I always loved them for how hideously cute they are, but never wanted one due to breeders being terrible. The one in the picture (Ponyo) used to belong to the owner of a hotel I worked at. He kept her locked up in a cage in his garage for three years, and was looking to give her up. When I took her home and opened up her cage, it was full of her shit and piss. She was covered in shit and must not have been bathed for months. Luckily, she's a very intelligent dog, and was bred well. Her owner gave me her AKC papers. I wanted to kill her owner, and I mean that very sincerely. I wanted to smash his balls for the way he neglected her. I take good care of her, I've had her for three years now. I've had a boxer, a blue-tick hound, a pitbull mix, and a dachshund. The pug is the most intelligent dog I've had, believe it or not (the dachshund was incredibly dumb - wasn't actually my dog though) . Very lucky, most pugs I see are brain-damaged dogs that will sit there and stare at the wall all day as a side-effect of inbreeding. I really lucked out.

 

Oh, and karma is a cool thing - her old owner's motel just got flooded by hurricane Nicole and now he has tens of thousands of dollars in repairs coming up.

People can be so damn shitty. My dad's 1.5 pugs were rescues (one is mixed with something, but is mostly a dark pug). It is so hard to look at them and think how someone could just neglect them.

My dog (it's a mix) was neglected for a good while. Used to chase the school bus whenever we entered the neighborhood. Some of my neighbors had rescued her from the owner down the street, and my family got her maybe in 2019. When we got her, she was starving so much that her ribs were showing. Took her home and named her Jude (me and my dad are Beatles fans). Now, she's eating healthy, we take good care of her.
