*UPDATED* TOMB OF THE OLD LORDS - a Hell-themed Boom single map WAD

I gave 1.2 another shot on UV. Once I got past the platforming section this time, the difficulty curve seemed to ease. I finished most of the other encounters without deaths. There were a few there, sure, but not as many as the starting room.

 

I did only find the one secret and missed a substantial amount of kills. Even looking around carefully and scrutinizing the automap didn't help me find the remaining two.

The strategy I used for the first room was to grab the shotgun, get the box of shells from the armor bonus side, get the green armor and SSG, then get into the room where the zombiemen came from and use that as a base to take out anything following me. After everything but the AV and demons were dead, I moved back to the entrance and used the pillars for cover to kill the AV. I saved the berserk until I was about to leave the room.

 

I cleared the trap with the delay just after the platforming on my first attempt - without finding the soulsphere non-secret or the blue armor secret before the platforming. I ran in circles in the tight room while enemies killed each other,  pumped the AV with rockets, then found a cubby with zombies to hide in until things cooled down.

 

For the final main fight, I made my way back to the place I came in and used rockets to clear out the teleporting in enemies. Then I unintentionally lured the Cyberdemon to one side, allowing me to clear out the main room. I killed the Cyber using plasma through a small gap and then the SSG, taking only a little damage.

There's a switch tucked away that will unlock a secret place. It's near the pentagram elevator right after the yellow skull door.

 

Sounds like you had the rest of the map figured out. Nice work!

Had a great time with LVENdead on this one, probably your best map yet which is really saying something.  Was a fun spicy challenge blind on UV but glad I was up to the task!  Tons of beautiful visuals, great thought put into the encounters, and a cool secret fight I'm glad you helped me find.  Great stuff :D

the platforming killing you on one mistake not because the teleporter is far away or the hurtfloor is 20% but because you're just boxed in feels bad

Wow, that was phenomenal. I have had this map saved on my phone for god knows how long, but I finally played it today.

 

Visual were stunning, with great architecture and the midi was a great fit. The fight design was what really impressed me though, each section really made me strategiese. Really impressed, kudos.
