ABSCISSION - Dark, Atmospheric Doom II Megawad [32 Vanilla Maps] Now On IdGames!

Recommended Posts

More cool maps, as expected :P I really liked the look of the ruined city, clean architecture jutting out of organic shapes is my jam. Loved the roaming cyber and the big mess of a fight in map15. Didn't find the secret exit but I'll likely do the secret maps next--I'll decide in the moment as usual haha

it feels a bit odd, like you had fed an AI Doom2 and told it to make levels.. not that the maps are bad, it's just something about this "recycled" concept 👀

Really weird and interesting secret maps and another moody neat city map. I really like the design of the city and the way you're forced to keep running "all over town" to complete the level

I've caught up to the released maps! I also had my mic off for a couple of these, so, as "punishment" I also played map20 saveless! enjoy my suffering :D

This map kicked my ass so hard lol. I was not prepared at all but I love it. Once I finally got going I had a good time. As always I love the set pieces and callbacks to the original. And it seems to be your trademark signature to have a cyber that you can't deal with follow you around and I absolutely love how you orchestrated that absolutely brilliant design

Good stuff!

Fun hangout session in a really fun map. I especially like this one! Your call backs to the original provide nostalgia but also provide a unique fun fresh game experience that I absolutely love!

And that lighting is super amazing

So much fun!!

Awesome map as always! As always like the subtle callbacks to the original while enhancing it up the wazoo - the outside parts with the crates and lighting were very atmospheric and the whole thing was fun to explore. Actually got all the secrets in this one!

AND ITEMS TOO!!!

super fun good times - I LOVE maps like these - things that are challenging but short - if you lost your progression it's not a big deal to start over - its a very fun map to try saveless and learn the techniques and strategies - solving the layout a little more each time and the fun thrill that comes with all this - super fun stuff time for chicken leg supper

Saw this on sand "new york revenant" wedges channel, like you said super moody! Not what I usually play but I have enjoyed it.

No idea if this something that could be fixed or it's just one of those things; playing map15 I managed to evade the Cyber until I got the BFG then he got stuck in the ceiling as I came back to find him lol. The area after the berserk secret, it's tagged a secret but can't see anything to do there? Secret exit I thought but I completely drew blanks after a while.

And how to get rocket launcher in map 1?

ok at some point I really lost track of which original maps are supposed to be the "source" - keeping the music would probably have helped to prevent that, but I dont necessarily think that it's a bad thing. Oh and btw I really enjoyed your music for itself too. I gotta say this map pack shows that you have an abundance of creativity. But I really think it deserves some polish because it has potential for more. You seem to be the type of person who prefers jumping to a new map (I'm like the opposite). The difficulty is fine monster wise, although at times there is really an abundance of items, this has to be overworked.

Fun times as always. The original 22 kind of pisses me off. Once again you capture the essence of the original and enhanced it. This is a fun little short one for sure

I don't know about everybody else but when I think of the original barrels o fun - I think of an annoying map to play:

I know I must sound like a broken record but once again you captured the nostalgic aspects and improved upon it with your own wonderful take

I really enjoyed this particular map a lot!

That little employee section was very fun as well

Good times!

I struggled hard on this one LOL. It was fun watching the lamp struggling as well. We both took different paths but I think every path is a fight isn't it. Not sure if there's an optimal strategy here but yah. I'm glad I got through it haha and there was some interesting stuff in here like that random noise that happens if you times you know what I mean. I think I know how you did it but I want to look at the editor

You keep coming up with unique and innovative ideas that I want to study

Good Times.

I'm gonna start playing these today and just by reading what's been said here it's probably going to be very good.

I just played through the first four and it was very fun. You always seem to retain the simplicity of vanilla levels but still make them look great idk how you do it. I found a missing texture map 4. If at the start you do to your left and fall into the mud pit taking the elevator reveals this here:

You might want to fix that.

I've only played a few levels so far, but liking it very much.  I dropped in to say that the soundtrack is outstanding!  Really sets the mood, and enhances pretty much everything about the surroundings.  Excited to play more!

This is an incredible campaign, and Snaxalotl is a very talented mapper and musician. I've played about 2/3rds of the maps so far and really enjoyed each of them - Here you'll find a delicious blend of atmosphere and well-calibrated difficulty, and the MIDIs really help to sell the experience. They are SO damn moody..!

I absolutely recommend this to anyone who loves high-quality vanilla wads, atmospheric wads, or wads that will challenge the player without busting their balls. Excellent stuff. c:

So excited to finally finish this! It's been a joy following the progress of the campaign, I think this is instantly in my top 5 wads I've ever played.

This is my most anticipated megawad at the moment. Can't wait to play this, Snax - congratulations on two megawads in less than a calendar year!
