How many language do you speak, and what language are you learning right now

Mandarin, Taiwanese(Hokkien), Japanese, English (maybe)

learning German right now, where that 0.01 come from, I would say it's awfully hard to say it, especially those R and Ich

Native English speaker who failed Spanish in middle school (didn't even figure out the alphabet levels of failed) and made the mistake of taking Latin in high school. Currently on my second year of it and I can only describe it as the language equivalent of stubbing your toe on a landmine. For any middle school students on Doomworld (which I'm sure is most of y'all) considering learning Latin, abandon all hope ye who enter here.

Can speak in two languages. I can also read in Arabic, though I can't write and for understanding the meanings, I have my Quran with two languages and thanks to that I can read the Arabic meaning.

 

Now trying French. I'd say it's quite difficult for me to learn from scratch. Having fun on learning though :D

Russian, which is native.
English, which is semi native.
French, which is acquired but I speak it on a near native level at this point.

Somewhat, Spanish. I can understand it when spoken to or when reading, but I lack the memory and words to actually speak it myself beyond some very basic conversation. This is due to working with quite a lot of Spaniards.

I used to learn Mandarin about a decade ago, but abandoned the idea and since have forgotten most of it beyond maybe 3 or 4 sentences.

Whenever I get a break from IRL issues (and stop being lazy), I do plan on finalizing my Spanish knowledge. If THAT gets done at some point, then there's two more languages I'd like to learn, those being Farsi (Spoken predominantly in Iran. A variation of Farsi called Dari is spoken in Afghanistan.) and Japanese.

Wow, I mean even some of my friends in Taiwan Don't speak Taiwanese, well, except swear words. if you do want to learn Taiwanese, I can teach you a lot of swear words XD

that's my butchering of French. Canada is a bilingual country and I had French class up to grade 9. I know a mix of various French words, mostly learned from food labels.

Portuguese and English. My Spanish is okay since it's similar to my native language and I studied it also at school. German I chose because I like challenges lol. Then I went over some Japanese, Korean and Russian, and the current last language I tried is Thai :)

Learning:
Japanese: Few words/Kanjis (at least can understard few sentences), being a native Spanish speaker helped a lot :P
Latin: Few words, more avanced than Jap cuz I'm a native Latin-based language speaker heh

I'm not learning, but can read most of the times:
Portuguese: Can read fairly good, thanks to being similar heh
Basically, all Latin-based languages except French, Romanian (yes, Romanian is a latin language) and Spanish-based Filipino languages (due having also words from his native language) :P
Canadian: "I'm not you friend, buddy!"

Native French speaker here. Since I live in Quebec I've been learning English since 4th grade. I'd like to say I'm pretty damn fluent at it now considering that I moved to Montreal (which is as bilingual a city you'll find up there) and my job requires me to constantly speak English.

Funny Thing, i've learned Italian because three Girls talked all day long in the back Row in School and i was like:" Hm, i somehow do understand them.".
I do understand also other romance Languages, can read French but can't understand it.

The "Problem" with romanian is:
After Rome fall, they were more isolated from "us", the vulgar latin in spain and italy went through exactly same chances in grammar.
Romanian stayed more in line with the latin grammar.
Later they adopted slavic words.

But simple sentence can be understand and with some training also the reading of complex ones.

French had a celtic influence in its very beginning, later a big german impact (vice versa they influenced english, making it harder to understand for other germanic languages^^).
The french language also hates the poor S = ecole = escuela, etat = estado, escapar = echapper

What did the poor S do to you french? Whaaat :( ?

Ah, italian hate the X , they chance it with an S or SS.

And spanish, we fear to let the S alone, we put an E infront (escuela = scuola, estado = stato, esperanza = speranza (italian).
Why? What do we fear from the S that it needs company?
