Hydrox or Oreo's

A small back story about Hydrox sandwich cookies. It debuted in the United States in 1908, and was manufactured by Sunshine Biscuits for over 90 years. Hydrox was largely discontinued in 1999, three years after Sunshine was acquired by Keebler, which was later acquired by Kellogg's. In September 2015, the product was reintroduced by Leaf Brands.

A small back story about Oreo cookies. It was introduced by Nabisco on March 6, 1912, and through a series of corporate acquisitions, mergers and splits both Nabisco and the Oreo brand have been owned by Mondelez International since 2012.

Hydrox was unlucky to end up sounding like washing detergent. If it's anything like common Oreo knock-offs (I know it came first) then I probably would enjoy it though. Oreos are good, but kinda "sickly sweet" for me, especially without milk.

Sugar bombs. Pass on both. But yes hydrox sounds like something i should use in my washing machine for whiter whites and brighter colours. A deeply ill conceived name for a cookie.

Consider when they debuted in the U.S. (1908). I'm sure the name "Hydrox" had a completely different meaning way back then.

Hydrox sounds like a futuristic drug, like it's the krokodil of 2197. I imagine that it tastes like electronic screen cleaner mixed with windshield wiper fluid. Oreos are okay but they're kind of bland, unlike Doritos. I voted for Hydrox.

Neither. Give me Tim Tams all day long.

My man Lee being the man of culture as he indeed is. My mom also loves Tim Tams, to the point that she always puts them inside refrigerator (even in days because our family is used to living frugal) because she finds them best eaten cold like that. As for me, I usually just chow them all down in a single sit, just because. :P

Just for a note to everyone else... (Shamelessly copy-pasted from good ole Wikipedia)

In 1908, the cookie's creation was inspired by "purity and goodness", with a name derived from the hydrogen and oxygen elements within the water molecule.

So yeah, even though nowadays it just doesn't sound all too good, it's interesting from an etymological perspective.

I'm not a chocolate person either. That's why they have Golden Oreo's.

I didn't like Oreo's when I was little because back in my day, they didn't have much in the variety department... I only ate the vanilla filling.

I, for one, am SO glad they now have like, I dunno, more than 50 flavors today?

Did Hydrox really need the Hydro part. That's mostly what leads to it sounding like a detergent name. But, I never had Hydrox, so, it is Oreo all the way.

Purchased through Amazon. My wife will kill me.

Is this a first time purchase? They're pretty tasty.

I had totally forgotten that Golden Oreo's exist. I've had them before and they're pretty good. I don't recall seeing other flavors.

Yep, first time. Never heard of them until this thread, which is going to beat my bank account down a bit, BTW. I'm a sucker for exotic cookies/biscuits. I could use some people helping me feed my addiction by buying my album, please (https://leejackson1.bandcamp.com/album/lady-tygress-suite-and-other-commissions - use code leejchristmas2022 at checkout for a 30% discount). :)

I've had those. They're pretty tasty too. Sometimes the jammy bit can be a bit rubbery. lol

Darn yours even have hearts in them!  You have me beat, lol.  I guess this is just our own version over here.  They are delicious, but I try not to buy cookies too often, I like them too much hah.

This is very true, but I like the way it gets stuck in my teeth (One weird trick my dentist HATES).

Cookies with a bit of jam in the middle like that are indeed delicious. I think they exist in most countries, I had them in Florida/Hawaii and they’re in Australia too, but regardless I’d take them over Oreos any day.
