DOOM on Youtube

I recently had one of my old DOOM levels I had on my Youtube channel flagged.  It had a Megadeth song midi I had put in the level back in the 90s.  It was odd because it had been up there for a few years.  I also had this video Unlisted.  So I just redownloaded my own video to keep and copy and took it off Youtube completely.  I am curious if anyone knows if I wanted to play DOOM I or II.  Would my videos get flagged since most of DOOM's OST sounds like other musicians' songs?  Not trolling just wondering what the standards are.  Thanks everyone.

I haven't heard of anyone getting flagged for Doom's OST, they might sound a lot like other songs but not enough for the youtube algorithm to care.  (Though probably enough for an actual copyright suit, lol).  Too bad about your video, it's weird when suddenly stuff gets flagged, though hasn't happened to me yet.  I'm curious, did they actually force a takedown or just force de-monetization?  I've always found that midis don't flag it for a full takedown because it probably sounds like a cover to the algo.

Thanks for the reply.  My channel isn't at a point where I can monetize videos yet.  Youtube basically just said it doesn't count as a strike against the overall channel.  They were giving me the option to mute a section of the song.  I just took the videos down to be safe.

yeah I'm not monetized either but sometimes they just let you know that it would be if applicable.  Surprised they asked you to mute part of a midi, haven't had that happen to me even after several hundred vids.  I guess it was just a real good megadeth midi lol.  But main thing is that you're fine with Doom and Doom 2's OST.

It was Train of Consequences by Megadeth.  Thanks for the information man.

I wonder if whether a MIDI gets recognised by YouTube's copyright bots depends on how it's played.

Like, would it be recognised by the bot if it was played via an OPL2 or OPL3 instead of MS GS/SC-55? Or perhaps it might not be recognised if played through GXSCC like Justin Whang does with certain songs in his videos?

I do know that in at least some cases, YouTube seems to have less severe consequences if it just recognises a melody without recognising the specific recording.

If I'm right, which I'm likely not, but the copyright bots can sometimes pick up on people so much as humming songs in videos (mostly happens in livestreams).

I think the bot is woefully inaccurate on purpose and will detect any similar sounding things instead of risking one slipping through the cracks.
