[GZDOOM] BREAK// POINT// - FINAL [now on /idgames!]

Just finished this.  Not a long mapset by any means but really really fun!  Here are some random thoughts:

 

* Love Supercharge.  Now I'm looking for more mapsets that use it.  Modernizes Dooms arsenal without feeling too different.

* Map05, insanely atmospheric.  Beautiful.  Advanced features in action.  Tons of fun.  Makes me wish for a whole set in this vibe.

* Map03, really good as well but brought my 5700x + 3070 to a crawl at times.  Otherwise the performance was very consistent at locked 135fps I play at.

* One of the best boss fights I can recall.

* Great music that always seemed to fit the map.

A couple of months ago I played the Break Point mod. Wad turned out great. If anyone has not played it, I recommend it. There was a question with the secret level map09. One item is missing from the map. No matter how much I tried to look for it, I never found it. Does anyone know about this or have experienced this? If you had a goal to find all the items and you found it, share this information.

I'm a little late to the party, but I'm having a very good time with these maps!

 

Above all the visuals are incredible, the color theming, perfect amount of detail to make things pop, but not too cluttered. Arena layouts keep things interesting but fair.

The combat is not nearly as difficult as I was expecting with a project like this. Which is a good thing imo. Fights keep you on your toes, but a couple mistakes won't game over you. First death on map 5. Levels are short and action packed. Very ideal for single segment play. I appreciate there are no death pits.

 

Ammo is PLENTIFUL. Maybe too much so. Even pistol starting I never find myself even running low. Especially in map 3, there were probably 80 rockets leftover at the end. If that was the intention, no worries. I just like being a little more careful with it but that's purely a preference thing. I really dig the guns. Especially the damage buff and range spread of the single shotty, keeps it relevant even with later weapons.

 

No real bugs to report, but I did find this funny little health bonus in the secret level lol. Also accidentally exited a couple times before exploring everything

 

Highly recommend to anyone that may have missed this! My only complaint is that there isn't more of it.

Funny enough someone was complaining about a missing item in the secret level so I think that may be it! Good find, lol. Thanks so much for playing!

Decided to piggyback a playthrough of this off the back of Godless Night and got a pleasant series of "tech x [other theme]" maps to chew through, had a lot of fun. I think the best part of this work is playing Map05 directly into Map06, they feel like they sequence perfectly (and greens seem to be a magic color in regards to Supercharge-based map quality). That final boss fight was also surprisingly engaging. Great work to everyone who contributed. :)

Hi there! I noticed that the intermission screen has MAP03 named "Zero Point Reactor" while ZMAPINFO calls it "Point Zero Reactor" instead. Caused a bit of confusion for us over on the wiki. I assume it's a typo. So my question is, what is the correct name of the map?

"Zero Point Reactor" is the correct one.

Absolutely beautiful set topped with the wonderful Supercharge Mod. I really appreciated the thought that went into each map, down to the Black and White Map not overstaying it's welcome.

 

All involved should be proud of this work.
