Regarding the @Veddge tribute to his friend, I must say that it is a conceptually wonderful piece. This map is an impressive creation. It reminds me of modern games like Layers Of Fear and Stanley Parable and other similar games in its focus on narrative and immersive experience. It is evident that he put his heart and soul into designing the map.

I'll join the increasingly impressive list of +1s for MyHouse.pk3.  It's a while since I've been anywhere near this hooked and immersed by a newly released Doom map (and I've played some good ones recently, so this is saying a lot).

There has been a resurgence of new mappers releasing their first maps/projects in last few years. There have also been a lot of Christmas map sets released last holiday season. More than most years.

 

I would nominate the following vanilla style map sets. If they don't get in the top 10, they should at least get an honorable mention =>

Haven't played it yet but making 27 maps and their own soundtrack to boot is a quite large feat.

 

For the lifetime achievement award, I would nominate Laz Rojas for reasons, if he hasn't already received that award before =>

 

Also, part of the reason why there have been quite a lot of new Doom players and mappers in recent years is because they have been introduced to Doom mods via YouTube. Just a suggestion, but I think there should be a YouTube channel award handed out every year. We should honor players, reviewers and other YouTube creators that do anything positive towards the greater Doom community. Creators like @ICARUSLIV3S, @decino, @Dwars and even creators like @pagb666 would be some suggestions. I just thought I would give my 2 cents.

From the last page worth of replies about MyHouse.pk3, one thing is abundantly clear:

 

It is a good thing that the Cacowards are not released on or about April 1st, because the urge to NOT name MyHouse.pk3 a winner likely would be too great an April Fool's joke to resist.

Another thing I liked this year besides MyHouse is Corruption. Besides having a wild palette and some pretty neat settings, it manages to avoid some of the pitfalls of "big meaty megawad" syndrome by using a ton of custom actors to keep new tricks up its sleeve throughout the playthrough, such as
