MaddenedK Posted June 17, 2023 +1 for You Have 1 HP. Not sure what category, but it's rather innovative and forces me to play Doom in a rather different way. 5 Share this post Link to post
UnknDoomer Posted June 18, 2023 (edited) +1 for "You Have 1 HP" as well. Edited June 18, 2023 by UnknDoomer 2 Share this post Link to post

DRON12261 Posted June 18, 2023 Machete by @A2Rob Passed on RC2 itself, this weekend decided to re-pass at 100/100/100 without saves on the map with pistol start. It's a freaking masterpiece and should take the cacoward. The gameplay and ideas on that megawad are awesome. 6 Share this post Link to post

Walter confetti Posted June 19, 2023 +1 for DSDA Doom UDMF Also, CRL as well, at least for a honorable mention to bring back the chocorenderlimits port from where It stopped and take it to a new level of helping vanilla mappers 7 Share this post Link to post
Serathis Posted June 19, 2023 Short, sweet, nice starbase architecture, not too hard. Enjoyed it a lot. 10 Share this post Link to post
dsda-dev Posted June 24, 2023 I'd like to mention @fabian for his stewardship of prboom+ now that it is complete. In addition to his personal flagship ports that have been widely used for years he has at times taken over this role of maintainer for ports that otherwise would not see active development and ensured they receive the ongoing polish and stability improvements needed to keep them alive. That impact can be felt throughout the growing ecosystem of very-vanilla ports we see today, where something old continues to feel new. 27 Share this post Link to post

Mr Masker Posted July 4, 2023 yup DBP59, really impressive what those Board Wizards can create with stuff like this. And in Limit Removing too! Wild stuff 4 Share this post Link to post
Ravendesk Posted July 5, 2023 Soon the thread will be renamed to "Cacowards 2023 Mentionation Thread: You Don't Need To Post DBP59 Again" :D Before that happened I would totally agree that dbp59 sets a very high bar for adventure wads. Amazing work all around from sick cl2 tech (and the way this tech is used) to actually great gameplay and visuals. Playing though the set feels like one continuous journey and you even start to empathize with main character's goals as goofy as it sounds for a doom wad. 8 Share this post Link to post

whybmonotacrab Posted July 6, 2023 (edited) Real simple rule: Read the posts above you and if the wad you like has been mentioned more than 3 times you don't need to add to it. I don't mind something getting mentioned a few times because then it shoots to the top of my list like "damn this is hot right now I should check it out." However when it gets mentioned too much it has the potential to make people flat out resent it - which hopefully isn't the desired outcome. Of the three you did post, one of them was having people discussing how we didn't need any more mentions for it literally right above your post. Also six is a lot to mention here. In the future, I recommend reading the threads you're posting in before you comment. Also, do the tiniest bit of research before posting things. That way your contributions will be far more meaningful and people will take you a bit more seriously :) 7 Share this post Link to post
SportsterV90 Posted July 7, 2023 @whybmonotacrab ThankYou for respond, I`l try to be clever next time! But so many talented people created such impressive things here, so it won't be a shame to mention them yet one time! 2 Share this post Link to post
bioshockfan90 Posted July 8, 2023 +1 for Arrokoth. Fantastic set of Ult. Doom levels that creates its own identity and manages to capture a Scythian essence despite being for the first Doom game. Everything else I'd want to nominate has already received its fair share of flowers so I'm abstaining from saying more until I play more. 2 Share this post Link to post

Somniac Posted July 14, 2023 I want to nominate the Abscission soundtrack for the Dootaward. I haven't finished the megawad so, while I've really enjoyed the maps so far, I can't really comment on it in its entirety as of yet. However, the soundtrack has become a regular in my MIDI listening, and as I poached two of the pieces for Arrokoth I feel obliged to highlight just how good Snaxolotl's music is. True dark ambience in Doom is something I feel has always been a little bit lacking, outside of the Playstation soundtracks obviously. This one delivers pitch-black atmosphere in spades, in a range of intensities, from the subtle to the outright chilling. Hard to pick a favourite, but the rumbling percussion and cavernous, droning bass of "Collapse" hits the mark with full force. As a big fan of ambient, minimalist and textural music, this soundtrack is top-shelf in my eyes. 8 Share this post Link to post

Traysandor Posted July 16, 2023 +1 to RAMP 2023. If only because this time around there is almost 300(!) completed maps and there's sure to be at least a few gems worth playing. https://ramp2023.teamouse.net/ 2 Share this post Link to post
